Well, She’s Not The Sharpest Knife in the Drawer…

Perhaps the McCain campaign should rethink Megan McCain’s role as a surrogate for the campaign, considering the fact that she says some really stupid things. Take, for example, her recent appearance on the Today Show. During the appearance, McCain said, “No one knows what war is like other than my family. Period.”

That’s a pretty strong statement, and it makes me wonder if Megan McCain is really stupid enough to believe no one knows what war is like other than her family. After all, the last time I checked, the McCain family wasn’t fighting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan by themselves.

And after careful consideration, Megan McCain’s my Idiot of the Week for this week.

Zach, I may be wrong about this, but I believe McCain’s daughter was comparing her family to the Obama family, NOT every military family.

Olbermann’s the one who doesn’t seem to “get it.”

Fred, listen to the video. She says, and I quote, “No one knows what war is like other than my family. Period.” I don’t hear her mention Barack Obama, and she’s pretty clear on what she’s saying.

Olbermann said “…responding to ‘Obama’s’ claim that her father doesn’t ‘get it.’”

Not actually knowing what the ‘it’ in ‘get it’ is, I’m probably guilty of reading too much into Olbermann’s ‘Obama.’ WOW! I almost sound like Bill Clinton: “It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.”

By the way, even The Huffington Post didn’t take a 12 second sound bite from a seven minute interview, and play “gotcha!” politics. Olbermann’s a classic.

Zach, Zach, Zach, I think she probably meant to say “more” rather than “other”. One word makes a huge difference.

I didn’t know Meghan McCain was running for office. Was Chelsea Clinton running this year as well? How about those Barack Obama’s girls? Are they running for POTUS?

Now were going after his daughter?

This shows the left is flustered and have nothing. The meltdown is starting to be obvious.

But, Are you really saying that four generations of a family serving in the military and going into combat does not entitle a family member to make that statement?

Find me another family that has the military history of the McCain’s. In doing your research a family that has faced the issue of a father sending his son into combat, twice. McCain having been the son and the father and that is something extremely relevant to this campaign.

Plus one where a son was a POW while the father was Commander of the same theatre his son is a POW in. From their, find me a family where that son is now a policy maker helping to formulate a war in which his son is a Marine in.

I think the McCain’s have a unique perspective on war.

Steve, what she might have meant to say and what she actually said are two different things. Considering how literally you seem to interpret things, given the whole capital P, small p progressive discussion from last week, I would have thought you’d interpret things more literally, but I suppose you’re more inclined to interpret things as you see fit.

As for your comments about me attacking Megan McCain, as well as your comments about Chelsea Clinton and Obama’s girls, I’ll just note that Megan McCain is actively campaigning for her father, and thus she’s fair game. She’s no different than any other surrogate, and if Sen. McCain didn’t want her to come under this kind of scrutiny, he wouldn’t have her going on the morning talk shows to campaign for him.

Oh, and by the way, I’m wondering if you’re ever going to answer my questions.
