This is a farewell kiss, you dog!

On his final visit to Iraq, President George W. Bush got a reminder of his unpopularity, as an Iraqi reporter threw his shoes at President Bush during a news conference:

“This is a farewell kiss, you dog!” shouted the protester in Arabic, later identified as Muntadar al-Zeidi, a correspondent for Al-Baghdadia television, an Iraqi-owned station based in Cairo, Egypt.

Here’s some video of the incident:

While I don’t condone throwing anything at the president – or anyone else for that matter – as a means of expressing your displeasure, I do think this incident speaks volumes about how President Bush is perceived by the very people he “liberated.”

  1. Technically, the guy is from Egypt, not Iraq. And, even without the Iraq war, we’d still be hated over there because of our support for Israel.

  2. Wow, I am impressed with President Bush’s catlike reflexes! He should go into professional boxing January 20th! Look at that bob-and-weave!

  3. stainjm, you’ve got a point. President Bush did exhibit some lightning-fast reflexes. Maybe he’s got a career ahead of him in MMA.

  4. I would say that this is the biggest event of the century.
The Iraqi scribe is the hero of the century.
It is the toughest slap on the face of all the Americans who think, act and fool like George W Bush. And there is a lesson here, to Obama too!

Lastly, look here the contrast between the two persons involved here.
The man perceived to be the most powerful man in the earth proves to be the most coward. He doesn’t take it head on. He didn’t have the courage to take it in his stride. He ducks like a coward to save himself. Look at his eyes. There is shock and awe!!!
In contrast, look at the other man. He is the REAL MAN. He had manhood with him intact. He is the hero. He is the brave man. He knew the consequences of the action. He plunged in it with everything he had. He used a pair of worn out shoes to make the powerful man on earth duck and jump.
    All praise to God.

  5. T Azeez, I’d hardly call this the biggest event of the century. It might rank as one of the big news stories of 2008, but that’s about it.
