I was watching Glenn Beck yesterday (I’m sure he’s on your “to watch” list too)
and he had a historian on…and the historian said Lincoln did not get along with his father because his father was illiterate and I guess not sophisticated enough for him. Lincoln didn’t invite his father to his wedding and never took his family to visit his father. Not only that…in an effort to prevent civil war Lincoln said in his inaugural address that he would not interfere with the South and slavery, although he did say he felt slavery was a “sin”. It was only after the Civil War broke out he changed his mind about not interfering. It’s interesting that he wouldn’t have stopped slavery had the Civil War not happened.
Anon, I actually do watch Glenn Beck from time to time, though to be 100% honest I don’t catch much politically-based TV, whether liberal or conservative. My TV watching tends to skew more towards the History and Discovery channels, as well as some network shows.
