A thought on Obama’s address to Congress
I’ll be honest – I didn’t watch President Barack Obama’s first address to Congress – I was busy getting a dog.
However, I did get home in time to catch the Republican response to President Obama’s address, which was delivered by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who’s frequently been mentioned as a possible contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. As the Recess Supervisor said over at Playground Politics, for a guy who is a Rhodes Scholar with an Ivy League education Jindal spent a lot of his time talking to the American people like none of them have anything beyond a sixth-grade education. What’s more, his delivery struck me as being forced, and I wasn’t impressed in the slightest bit. I’m not the only one who wasn’t impressed by Bobby Jindal; here’s what a few national talking heads had to say:
BRIT HUME: “The speech read a lot better than it sounded. This was not Bobby Jindal’s greatest oratorical moment.”
NINA EASTON: “The delivery was not exactly terrific.”
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: “Jindal didn’t have a chance. He follows Obama, who in making speeches, is in a league of his own. He’s in a Reagan-esque league. … [Jindal] tried the best he could.”
JUAN WILLIAMS: “It came off as amateurish, and even the tempo in which he spoke was sing-songy. He was telling stories that seemed very simplistic and almost childish.”
In all, not a great national debut for Bobby Jindal.

I laughed my ass off…
Yeah, I’d agree with that. The Recess Supervisor is usually good for laughs.
