Is Lorge the best the GOP can do?

According to a recent Twitter update, Robert Lorge is thinking about running for the US Senate in 2010 against incumbent Russ Feingold:

So far I am leaning towards running against Feingold for US Senate, but supporters urge Lt. Governor or 8th Congress in 2010. Too early yet.

Lorge ran for the US Senate in 2004 and 2006 and lost miserably both times, so I’m going to have to agree with Jamse Wigderson’s assessment that Feingold supporters probably aren’t too afraid of a Lorge candidacy in 2010.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Wisconsin GOP can come up with a better candidate than Robert Lorge to oppose Russ Feingold in 2010, because if they can’t, it could be another bad election year for the GOP in Wisconsin.
