Honadel to retire?
Two anonymous sources have indicated to me Rep. Mark Honadel of the 21st Assembly District will not run for reelection in 2010. While this rumor hasn’t been confirmed by Rep. Honadel, it would certainly throw an interesting wrinkle into the 2010 race in the 21st District. If Rep. Honadel does in fact retire from the Assembly, I’d venture a guess that former Oak Creek Alderwoman and mayoral candidate Dimity Grabowski will likely be a candidate for the Republican Party. On the Democratic side, I’ve not hear much yet about possible candidates, though there are a few individuals I think would make fine candidates in the 21st.
I’ll have more on this story as it develops.

It was brought to my attention that a rumor was published on this website saying that I may not run for re-election in 2010. This rumor is completely false.
While my focus right now is on the state budget and other important matters for our state in this legislative session, I have every intention of asking the people of the 21st Assembly District to send me back to the State Capitol on their behalf in 2010. I take very seriously the duty they have entrusted to me and I would be honored if they would allow me to continue to serve the community as State Representative.
There is much work to be done in this legislative session and beyond. It’s my mission to stand up for overburdened taxpayers, work to improve the business climate to get our economy moving again, and make government more efficient and responsive to its citizens.
I hope this clears up any unfounded rumors. If anyone has any questions or concerns in the future, please contact me directly at 414-764-9921 or by e-mail at rep.honadel@legis.wi.gov
Rep. Honadel, thanks for clearing up your status. I’ll certainly make sure to note your clarification on this issue.
