Hubert Hoffman’s throwing a picnic!

Hubert Hoffman is throwing a picnic to celebrate the joys of carrying firearms in public, and he’s inviting all his friends:

Hubert Hoffman says he’s a law abiding citizen of Onalaska and he says he’s following the law when he wears his loaded pistol while he mows his lawn.

“It appears to be that there is this stigma attached with firearms that everybody is somehow afraid of them.”

A recent memo released by J.B. Van Hollen reminds local law enforcement that it’s legal for people to openly carry a firearm. Because of that memo, Hoffman is throwing an Open Carry picnic at Marvin Garden Park in Onalaska.

His goal is “to educate the public that firearms owners are not a danger to the general public.”

Hoffman says he’s bringing food for 300 and hopes people attending bring their guns. He’s also pushing for lawmakers to pass a state carry and conceal law.

I’m thinking Hubert Hoffman might want to make a little extra food, because he might have a few extra guests at his picnic.

H/T to illyT.

  1. I typically have a gun sitting on my dining room table or on my dresser and it (the gun) doesn’t frighten me. What is a little scary are the nuts who are so obsessed with guns they feel the need to plan a picnic just so they can all open carry together. How stupid.

  2. OMG. I didn’t notice who the “extra guests” were going to be until I clicked on the link again over at capper’s blog. LOL!! They deserve each other.

  3. Anon, I’m not opposed to citizens owning guns, and I have no problem with those folks going to the range for some target practice, but I think there ought to be reasonable limits on when/where they can carry their guns around.

You see Zach, the problem lies in the definition of “reasonable”, for it varies from person to person. For example, concerning the 2nd amendment, my definition of “reasonable” is “the RIGHT to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”, but then again, I don’t recall the word “reasonable” being used in the 2nd amendment.

  5. This is sure to be the most redneck gathering possible, put together by the poster child of them all. Bring your bubba teeth to fit in, in case you have dental insurance.

PEOPLE THIS HUBERT DIP IS NOT THE FACE OF GUN OWNERS, PLEASE DO NOT ASSOCIATE GUN OWNERS WITH THIS LOSER, THANKS.

  6. HonestAbe, I know this is an issue you’re passionate about, but try to keep the personal attacks to a minimum.

  7. Visit OpenCarry.org for information on where the next one will be.

Mr. Hoffman did an excellent job. The picnic was safe and well organized. The press reported over 200 people attended and that over $800 was raised for Wisconsin Badger Camp.

    Congratulations!
