Scott WalkerThis year’s Milwaukee County Executives’ Ride (For Votes) has drawn the ire of several supervisors who don’t like the idea that AirTran, a major county airport tenant, is putting up funds for Scott Walker’s motorcycle event. Those supervisors (Chris Larson, Marina Dimitrijevic, and John Weishan, Jr.) have filed a complaint alleging violations of state laws that prohibit the use of state resources for campaign purposes, in addition to state law that prohibits corporate donations to political campaigns.

While Scott Walker has said the motorcycle tour is an attempt on his part to promote Milwaukee County and encourage tourism to the county, it’s worth noting Walker is using his gubernatorial campaign staff to advance and coordinate the motorcycle trip. The involvement of Walker’s gubernatorial campaign staff clearly politicizes the entire tour, casting into doubt Walker’s stated reason for the tour. If this tour was really all about promoting Milwaukee County – as Walker has stated – then why the need for his gubernatorial campaign staff, and why the need to use non-County email to work out the details? The fact is, Scott Walker has crossed the line, and he should be held accountable.

If you’d like to read the entire text of the complaint, you can find it here.

Good for the supervisors! It really ticks me off how Walker’s supporters are looking the other way on this issue.

Anon, I can’t really blame them, because if this were Jim Doyle, I’m sure there would be a lot of folks who would rush to his defense.

This guy is really something. If he becomes governor, it’ll be terrible. I’ve even found a Facebook group against this guy for those of you who have an account. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=55868686754
