“Tricky Dick” talks abortion
Richard Nixon shares his thoughts on abortion:
“There are times when an abortion is necessary. I know that. When you have a black and a white,” he told an aide, before adding: “Or a rape.”

What struck me isn’t the quote from Nixon but the title of the blog post by Mathias. Nixon was obviously a bigot but to be happy he’s dead and hope he’s in hell is just extreme. President Carter seems to have issues with Jewish people (if I remember correctly) but I won’t be happy when he’s dead and hope he’s in hell.
Anon, I don’t disagree with your point regarding what Michael said, but he’s certainly entitled to his opinion. Ultimately, I’m focused more on what Nixon said, because it’s downright despicable.
Of course he’s entitled to his opinion but he did write “Surely we can all agree…” and I had to give my opinion that I do not agree.
Nixon’s generation was like that. I would be more critical if someone said something like that now because I think we have lived and learned as a society such ignorance is unacceptable.
This is just the demonizing of Republicans….how petty….
