A quick take on Terrence Wall

It’s been speculated Madison real estate developer Terrence Wall might be itching to get into the U.S. Senate race against Sen. Russ Feingold in 2010, and after having done some reading on Wall, I’ve come to the conclusion Terrence Wall really has no clue what it means to be an average, working-class Wisconsinite:

His family was hardly poor. While the Wall kids were growing up, their dad, John Wall, was transforming Madison-based Demco into the world’s largest library-supply company. Indeed, his father’s willingness to guarantee loans and family investments in T. Wall Properties was at least partially responsible for his rapid rise in the local real estate development scene.

Yeah, sounds like a guy who can really relate to the issues working class folks are worried most about.

The last thing I want in a potential U.S. Senator is a rich guy who has no clue what regular folks go through on a daily basis, because that’s not a guy who I can count on to represent my best interests in the United States Senate.

  1. To find out a bit more about T. Wall, you might consider reading his column in In Business Magazine “Up Against the Wall”. You can read it at: http://ibmadison.com/againstwall You’ll find some of his perspectives interesting. He was quite the sore loser in the Madison Library competition with the Fiore Companies.

  2. So, how do you feel about having Herb Kohl as a U.S. Senator? He’s definitely a rich guy, and I doubt he has first-hand knowledge of what regular folks go through on a daily basis.

    1. Jill, I’ve never been terribly enamored with Sen. Kohl. Sure, he seems like a nice enough guy, but he’s never struck me as being a terribly fantastic legislator.

  3. T.Wall’s whining in that Against the Wall column is pretty standard fare for him. Now, Russ Feingold is a pretty good debater, so it could be amusing for Russ to take on Wall, since there is a chance that Wall could get whiny during a debate, which I would find very entertaining.

    1. That very well could be. But Wall is experienced from his fights and conflicts with the City of Madison. He could be a semi-formidable debate opponent. But as I’ve never seen him actually debate anything, that’s conjecture. Maybe not.

  4. Terrence Wall should run for senator posing that he would contribute to the fixing of the economy. He would be a good apponent for Russ Fiengold.
