Westlake takes T. Wall down a peg
Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dave Westlake appeared on Vicki McKenna’s radio show yesterday, and during his appearance, the conversation turned to the entry of Madison-area real estate developer Terrence Wall into the 2010 U.S. Senate race. Asked about Wall, Westlake responded with this (emphasis mine):
Westlake: Well, you know, I don’t know Terrence personally at all. Umm, I’m sure he’s a nice guy…
Mc Kenna: I do, I actually know him. And I can say he’s a perfectly nice guy.
Westlake: Good. Sure. I guess the thing that I look at his campaign or his approach to this race with, is that in an economy where the recession was driven largely by people being taking advantage of by other people in the housing market, it’s gonna… it’s going to be tough for a guy who’s made millions of dollars in the real estate industry to really tell a good story.
If you’re interested, you can listen to Westlake’s comments to McKenna HERE .
Now that T. Wall has entered the 2010 U.S. Senate race for Republicans, I expect Westlake’s comments to Vicki McKenna to be just the opening act of what will be a long, bloody Republican primary marked by personal attacks and mudslinging, all of it leading to an easy victory for Sen. Russ Feingold.

I agree with Mr. Westlake’s comments exactly.
I will be very interested to see how Mr. Wall, with his three homes, is going to tell Wisconsin he knows what we’re going through. It will be a good story, indeed.
You’re exactly right, AJ; it’ll be interesting to see how Wall thinks he’s able to relate to the “average joe,” given Wall’s status as a member of the silver spoon club.
My question is, why are we even paying attention to how two political neophytes and tea-bag cookie cutouts are going to slug it out for the right to get clobbered by Feingold next year? Even the entertainment value is low.
I live in the same town as this Westlake guy and I’ve never heard of him, or whatever business he runs. He has absolutely no political bona fides. It makes me even wonder what his real long term motives are when his first step into the political arena is doomed at the start.
I’ve looked at Westlake’s website, and there isn’t one single original thought on it. It’s like he boilerplated every Rebub talking point verbatim. It’s sad.
Yeah, there’s certainly not much original thought coming from Westlake, and based on what I’ve read from Terrence Wall, he’s not much better.
I understand the wariness about a candidate who has made some money, but come on, guys and gals. America is not about class warfare. If Wall speaks for the people, he deserves a chance. If you’re going to say a person successful in our capitalist system cannot represent us, what is that saying? We just need to ask the right questions of both candidates and look at their actions and words that would indicate if they would serve us or not.
There lies the problem. He does not speak for the people – he speaks and acts for himself. His sense of entitlement is astonishing. Terrence Wall will be nobody’s senator but his own.
Here are problems with Mr. Wall that SHOULD be considered (not just the fact he has money):
