Jon Stewart destroys Senate Republicans

A little over a week ago, Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota proposed a legislative amendment that would stop funding defense contractors who deny sexual assault victims their day in court. At the time, 30 Senate Republicans voted against the amendment, including Sen. John Ensign of Nevada and Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana, both of whom seem to have serious problems with women.

Here’s Jon Stewart’s take on those 30 Republican Senators:

  4. The comparison of their positions between ACORN and this legislative amendment is unbelievable. I dislike ACORN too…but come on…how can they be such hypocrites? How do they get away with being such hypocrites? How do they look at themselves in the mirror?

  5. I think a lot of their hypocrisy is due to their traditional deference to the military. KBR are military contractors, doing a lot of jobs that used to be done by U.S. military personnel. Our armed forces have an abysmal record when it comes to protecting female soldiers from sexual assault. It has been getting better in recent years, but not that long ago, it was standard operating procedure to confine a soldier who reported a sexual assault and pressure her to recant, and she had very little recourse to force her superiors to obey the law and protect her rights. That may be why Republicans like Lindsey Graham, who is usually a decent human being, find nothing outrageous about KBR’s policy. They probably believe that it is simply a risk that a woman knowingly takes when she signs up to do a man’s job and goes into a war zone.

  6. Pure silliness on the part of 30 Republicans. They have no honor.

    We should never forget that.
