Dobbs for president?
Appearing on former Sen. Fred Thompson’s radio show on Monday, former CNN host Lou Dobbs continued to fuel speculation he’s considering running for president as a third-party candidate in 2012. When asked if he might make a run at the White House in 2012, Dobbs said, “Yes is the answer.”
“I’m going to be talking some more with some folks who want me to listen in the next few weeks,” Dobbs told Thompson. “Right now I’m fortunate to have a number of wonderful options.”
Though I’d never in a million years support Lou Dobbs for any elected office, his presence in a 2012 presidential race would certainly make for an interesting presidential race, to say the least.

I find it hard to believe that you would not support a guy who practically slobbers at the fact that once he closes the borders, it would be Most Happy Big Fun Union Jobs For All!
Matt, clearly you don’t understand me at all.
Well, judging by your and Dobbs’ common thread of like totally *hearting* union jobs, it was really quite easy to make the connection.
Since you think that a comment on your blog constitutes a proxy for a session on your mind’s workings, I bill at $100/hr.
Matt, in general I am a supporter of union jobs, but I’m not a fan of Dobbs’ opinions on any number of other issues.
Dobbs’ central arguments are the destruction of the middle class due to outsourcing of jobs to non-Americans. That seems to be the central philosophy of the AFL-CIO dinosaur.
What you isolationists seem to not grasp is that these moves boost profits, which help AFL-CIO pensions.
To take the position that Dobbs, the AFL-CIO, and yourself take on outsourcing is to be in complete denial that a labor market of more than 3 billion people in BRIC, et. al. would go untapped forever.
Bottom line: your position and Dobbs’ are remarkably closer than you perceive them to be. Strange bedfellows indeed.
