Milwaukee businessman Sheldon Lubar thinks it’s time to blow up Milwaukee County government, and I’ve got the the perfect place to start the effort to disband Milwaukee County government:
County Executive Scott Walker.

Good idea.
In other Walker news, I received a brown paper bag mailer yesterday from Tonette Walker. Interesting choice of mailer – is it supposed to be a barf bag for Walker?
Ahhh in reading the mailer I see that it symbolizes how frugal Scott is and as “Tonette” says – “Scott prefers to pack the same “brown bag” lunch every day: two ham and cheese sandwiches on wheat with mayo.”
The same lunch every day isn’t frugal; it’s boring.
I think it would take an amendment to the state constitution to do anything to the county, whether it be blow it to bitses or execute a municipal government merger. I’m interested in exploring the latter, which is a real option.
Jason, I think a municipal government merger is an idea worth exploring, but I’m willing to bet the municipalities involved would be loathe to consider any proposal to merge.
No one wants to give up power. But, at what cost does that come? Endless duplication of government services leads to higher costs for everyone. This idea isn’t going to sell overnight. But then, it takes time and repetition for an idea to be built up until it’s accepted. Get ten to repeat an idea ad infinitum, and you’re well on your way to accomplishing your goal.
Jason, dare I say you’re sounding very un-socialist with your call for a consolidation of municipal governments!
How so? [blog not allowing short comments, curse you!]
Well, shouldn’t you be extolling the virtues of big government?
