While Milwaukee County Goes Backwards, Mecklenburg County (Charlotte) and DC Go Forward

Scott Walker won’t even touch domestic partner benefits for County employees claiming the costs will doom the county.  His County Board seems to be quaking in their boots on this issue too.   Meanwhile elsewhere in the country we have the Mecklenburg County (Charlotte, NC) Commissioners voting to move forward with domestic partner benefits for partners of gay employees.  As Ian Palmquist, Executive Director of Equality North Carolina stated:

“Everyone deserves equal compensation for equal work.”

Elsewhere in the country, we had Washington DC May Adrian Fenty signing a gay marriage bill legalizing same sex marriage in the District of Columbia at All Souls Unitarian Church.

When are our Wisconsin political leaders going to get with it and recognize that gays and lesbians deserve equal rights at all levels?
