BARRETT SWINGS BACK…..AGAIN

Remember The Gop Bloggers and yakkers telling us that Tom Barrett Didn’t really want to Run For Governor?
They said he was Reluctant

They said his heart wasn’t in it.

They said Obama and Doyle Forced him to Run

They said his waiting to decide proved he wouldn’t have the needed
Enthusiasm to win a statewide race…Blah…Blah…Blah

Today….. Barrett Swung Back….Again

“And thanks to your help, we have some great news to share: our campaign raised more than $750,000 for the finance period that ended on December 31. This incredible amount was raised in just 47 days, and represents the greatest fundraising start by a Wisconsin gubernatorial campaign ever. We nearly doubled our existing cash-on-hand amount, and now have more than $1.5 million in the bank.”

Clearly this Shows Barrett is in it to Win It!

  1. Indeed. It’s a good sign that he is totally committed to the race. And remember when the GOP starts spinning that Walker raised more or has more in the bank that Barrett has no serious primary, while Walker will have to spend his money to try to win the GOP nomination.

  2. Yeah, the fact that Barrett raised as much as he did has to be a source of serious concern for Walker/Neumann, especially considering Barrett was already sitting on a campaign war chest that was somewhere in the neighborhood of $800,000 if I recall correctly.

  3. Where did Barrett get that war chest? If Green couldn’t use his, neither should Barrett.

    1. Green couldn’t use his because it came from his federal campaign, and thus it couldn’t be used for a statewide campaign. Barrett’s war chest, on the other hand, can be used for a statewide campaign.

  4. None of that $800,000 comes from his time as a Congresman? He raised all that as mayor? If that’s true, wow! Either way it won’t matter because there won’t be Doyle/Elections Board shenanigans this time.

    1. My understanding is that he raised all that money during his two campaigns for mayor, so it most certainly comes into play during his gubernatorial run. That’s one reason why he was looked at as being a strong possible contender for Democrats – because he’d have instant financial credibility thanks to the money in his war chest.

  5. I did not realize he had such a large warchest. Kudos to him for being able to raise that amount just as mayor. How much does it cost to run a mayoral campaign in Milwaukee?

Regardless if Tom is eager to travel the state, shake hands, and eat deep fried cheese, I think we have all seen how the $$$ comes into play in the media campaign for governor.
