Giuliani says 9/11 never happened

Speaking to George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America this morning, former New York Mayor Rudy “Noun, verb & 9/11” Giuliani “bent” the truth when it comes to the Bush administration’s record on domestic terror attacks:

“What he [Obama] should be doing is following the right things that Bush did – one of the right things he did was treat this as a war on terror. We had no domestic attacks under Bush. We’ve had one under Obama,” Giuliani said. “Number two, he should correct the things that Bush didn’t do right. Sending people to Yemen was wrong, not getting this whole intelligence thing corrected.”

Yeah, I can see how Rudy Giuliani forgot about the terrorist attacks in New York City on September 11, 2001. After all, it’s not as if he was mayor of New York or anything…

  1. What’s with the misleading titles on here a lot of the time?

I think you know what he meant, but aside from counting 9/11, wouldn’t you have to count the Shoe Bomber if you are counting the Christmas Bomber as a domestic attack?

    1. forgot…I have been hearing more and more GOPers making completely false statements like this one…and it shouldn’t be a matter of “I think you know what he meant,…”

      1. Right Zach I agree, but wasn’t Guiliani counting the underpants guy as an attack? I was making the point that if he is counting that, he would have to count the one attempted attack (Reid/shoe bombing) under Bush.

As for Anon, if you watch the clip Rudy is basically saying the same as Haley Barbour, that there were no attacks under Bush after 9/11, which was the starting point where we committed new resources and were at war/high alert against Al Qaeda. But if you want to hold such a stringent standard, I will remember that the next time Obama isn’t as clear as he intended.

        1. forgot, you’re right. If Giuliani was counting an attempted (but failed) attack against President Obama, then he wasn’t correct in saying there were no domestic terror attacks following 9/11, since Richard Reid’s failed attack would count, using Giuliani’s logic.

        2. Yeah…I think it’s important to use such a “stringent standard”…especially when the politicians are so loose with the truth. And…feel free to use the same standard for Obama. I don’t mind at all. I’m not President Obama’s biggest fan after all…I just thought I’d give him a chance to do something before I declared him to be Hitler or something as equally ridiculous. He won the election…he’s our President…and he certainly should be held to the highest of standards.

          1. “Loose on the truth”… it’s not as if anyone forgot about 9/11. It would be tough for Rudy to pull a fast one on that point.

              1. Sorry, if you meant that I mistakenly said you said “on” instead of “with” then you are correct.

  2. Rachel Maddow had an excellent takedown of Giuliani tonight, but the approach he takes to mislead americans is the same approach as his whole party. They count on people suspending disbelief and simply take them at their word. His target audience are those who simply bow to authority. Like those who go to church. Sheep.

    1. Well you surely have to suspend disbelief when Obama and liberals tell you that government health care will actually save money. Or that if we just give everyone a hug around the world they will play nice. Or that windmills will meet our energy needs. I would rather go to church and answer to a higher power, then bow down to the almighty government.

      1. My last comment should read “rather go to church and answer to a higher power THAN bow down to the almight government.” Sorry, it’s been a long day.
