Democrats vs. Republicans – Polls Gallup & Daily Kos
Good news for the Democratic Party.
Gallup has released polling results that show only 4 states solidly Republican (AK, ID, WY, UT) vs. 23 states that are solidly Democratic (AR, CA, CT, DE, HI, IL, IA, ME, MD, MA,MI, MN, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, VT, WA, WV and WI).
“Overall, 49% of Americans in 2009 identified as Democrats or said they were independent but leaned to the Democratic Party, while 41% identified as Republicans or were Republican-leaning independents.”
Given the GOP positions on key issues as revealed in a recent poll by Research 200o, sponsored by DailyKos; it isn’t too surprising to see these results. Those polled reflect a segment that is out of touch and living in an alternate reality. In fact, I suspect that many mainstream Republicans would find these survey results about their party disturbing too. Here’s a sampling of the survey results:
Should Barack Obama be impeached, or not?
Yes 39
No 32
Not Sure 29Do you think Barack Obama is a socialist?
Yes 63
No 21
Not Sure 16Should openly gay men and women be allowed to teach in public schools?
Yes 8
No 73
Not Sure 19Do you believe that the only way for an individual to go to heaven is though Jesus Christ, or can one make it to heaven through another faith?
Christ 67
Other 15
Not Sure 18
I suspect that the 2000 self-described Republicans that answered this survey have spent too much time watching Fox News, reading Sarah Palin’s Facebook page, listening to the prosletyzing of their ministers or simply avoiding anything that has to with facts.
Do you want to see more of the wacky and scary results from this survey? You can do so at the DailyKos.

I’m not sure what faith in Christ has to do with any of this. Why must you put down people for listening to their ministers? I guess they should be at home Sunday mornings bowing down to the latest Al Gore environmental DVD.
Suddenly a religious belief is linked to Obama’s impeachment? I would hope thee are some Christian liberals that find that assertion offensive. Seems like just another shot at those “Bible-believin’ rubes who vote Republican.” I’m sure there was some poll 5 years ago of Democrats who said Bush should be impeached, thought he was a dictator, and called themselved atheists. Now what would you make of that?
Hi forgot,
If a poll had said that about Bush, I would have said “thank you Jesus” the people have seen the light about that incompetent President we dealt with for 8 years.
I’m not linking impeachment to religious beliefs, I’m reporting on a survey done by an independent organization that finds the GOP seems to think that “the only way to go to heaven is through Jesus Christ”. You tell me what that means.
Thanks again for your comments.
I’d rather not spark a religious debate, but Jesus said “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” It seems if you are going to believe in him, you would believe in what he says. I would gather anyone who follows any religion would say theirs is the way to salvation. That’s kind of obvious.
But so what? Like I said what does that have to do with the GOP, impeachment views, or whether they prefer Coke or Pepsi? I guess I will ask you what that means.
Is that what Jesus said…forgot? Prove it.
Religion should not be an issue, I agree. I also believe that Bush is no longer and issue, previous Presidents (Right/Left) Obama is Obama, he owns what he has now. Justifiing his behavior by saying “Bush did it” at this point is silly.
I respect Gallup (to a point. I have my doubts about any and all polls), but I’m not sure Kos can be considered an unbiased polling organization.
Thanks for your comment. Daily Kos commissioned the survey, but it was done by Research 2000, an independent polling organization.
“our president a socialist”, “Impeach him!”, wow. And i like your little poll on hatred against gay men and women. You people dislike gay people anyways, whether they are teachers, hair stylists, athletes, etc. Strait male and female teachers have the same impulses as gay male and female teachers whether it be positive or negative. THE SAME. You close minded people hate more than love and that is not Christlike. If you are a Christian, you are also a sinner. EVERYBODY sins. You think gay people live in sin? The people who took these polls live life in sin because of their blind mislead beliefs and their fear of things they don’t understand. There is nothing positive about this website. May you find peace and love in Jesus and understand what the true meaning of him in your life is. Save people, don’t persecute them.
PS-i am 23 years old and a father of a baby boy, if i was gay i would probably be an atheist because all you proclaimed Christians will never have shown me gods love. So in a way, you don’t care about saving people, am i right? Or do you think your close minded attitude has no negative effect with some of God’s not so “normal” children. You all make me sick. Ignorant
Andrew, who’s the “you people” you’re referring to?
I am referring to “you people” as far right “good Christian” republicans, who apparently were the majority of people who took these polls. If anyone thinks these polls reflects what America thinks, they are dead wrong.
Ah, thanks for clarifying. Yeah, “those people” definitely have a long way to come in regards to tolerance of others; that’s for sure.
As far as impeachment is concerned I would agree. Obama does not represent the majority of the U.S. And those that agree with him are often “zero liability voters”. Are we all tired of those with no skin in the game telling those with skin what they should do?!
