Walker flip-flops on late-night legislative sessions….what a shock!
Scott Walker must think folks here in Wisconsin are a bunch of morons.
After all, how else could his constant flip-flopping on a host of issues be explained? In the latest example of Scott Walker’s words not matching his actions, Walker has recently been railing against late-night lawmaking after the Assembly pulled two all-nighters while lawmakers rushed to wrap up their legislative session. Walker promised that if elected governor, he would sign legislation prohibiting the Legislature from voting after 10 p.m. or before 9 a.m. In announcing his opposition to late-night legislative sessions, Walker noted, “I have two teenagers and I tell them that nothing good happens after midnight. That’s even more true in politics,” he said in a statement. “The people of Wisconsin deserve to know what their elected leaders are voting on.”
While gubernatorial candidate Scott Walker thinks late-night legislative sessions are unacceptable, State Representative Scott Walker voted in favor of late-night lawmaking back in the days when he was a member of the Assembly. According to voting records, Walker joined with the Republican majority in January 1997 to eliminate a rule that required lawmakers to finish their floor sessions at 8 p.m. Republican lawmakers had voted to put the rule in place after taking control of the Assembly in 1995.
I’m wondering if there’s anything Scott Walker won’t say in order to win this election.

I’m wondering if there’s anything Scott Walker won’t say in order to win this election.
Yup, the truth.
8pm is hardly “late night.” Plus now he says no session from 10pm to 9am. Maybe he is ok with 8pm through 10pm.
He voted to eliminate the curfew all together. He did not argue that any set time was OK.
Up or down vote. Did he have the luxury of setting a different time?
This is a minor issue to begin with, but it’s like, a politician can never change a position on anything, in this case between 1997 and now? Look at every single person who has ever run for President.
He didn’t seem to mind when the County Board had to stay in session until 1:30 in the morning last November, when they were trying to fix his budget. (They failed to do so, but it was so badly broken when he gave it to them, they should have just rejected it at the beginning.)
I agree with Walker that the legislature needs to quit pulling this up-all-night crap. However, for Walker this is just another opportunity to grandstand.
Also, capper, great “the truth” zing. Hilarious.
