Chickens for Checkups?!?

Sue Lowden, a Republican running to unseat Sen. Harry Reid in Nevada, has a real old-timey solution for a modern problem: Americans who can’t afford health insurance should barter with their doctors for health care with things like chickens and house painting. I don’t know about those of you reading, but I don’t know many doctors who’d be willing to accept anything but cash money (or some form of insurance) for their services, so Sue Lowden’s idea seems pretty stupid. However, despite being mocked for her remarks, Lowden has made it clear she stands behind what she said, as noted by Rachel Maddow:

While I’d love to pay my doctor with chickens and house painting, something tells me I’m not going to have much luck finding a good doctor who’s willing to accept my terms of payment.
