Those empty suits like Ron Johnson agree with the darndest things!
Just for a moment let’s go back in history – back to the 2008 presidential campaign.
Do you remember the moment during that campaign, when at a John McCain town hall meeting one woman said she couldn’t trust Obama because “he’s an Arab?”
Do you remember McCain’s response?
I do, and McCain responded by saying, “No ma’am, he’s a decent family man, a citizen, that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues, and that’s what this campaign is all about.” Here’s video of the exchange between McCain and the woman who said Barack Obama could be trusted because he’s an “Arab:”
Instead of allowing the woman’s comment to stand, McCain quickly corrected her, but the same can’t be said for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ron Johnson, who said he wasn’t going to argue with a man who called President Obama “a liar, a cheat, a criminal, a dishonest person,” as well as an “anti-American, American hater.” Here’s a transcript:
Audience Member: Today I am very, very worried about this country, where it is going. As I study history and look at the historical thing I see right now a liar, a cheat, a criminal, a dishonest person who lied his way into the White House; and we are sitting with a Marxist anti-American, American-hater sitting in the White House, who seems bound and determined to destroy this nation.Different Audience Member: Rich is that your question?
Audience Member: Yes. Do you agree? Let me finish. My point, I guess what I’m saying it is so important for people like Mr. Johnson who understands this [inaudible] to be elected. It’s important for the people who are out there who don’t understand what this whole thing was about, that they begin to understand so that a Reagocrat[?] like Feingold, ah…Dumocrats like Kagen and others out there are removed from office so that this country gets back on a…gets back on its path. Do you kind of agree with that? (Laughter)
Ron Johnson: I’m not…I’m not going to argue with…arm wrestle you about it.
And here’s video from the event:

Great catch and great post. Wonder how reince will spin this….
Before we give mccain too much credit he let a lot go at his rallies before he got so much grief that he finally put an end to it….
I don’t think Ron Johnson agreed with the audience member. I think he saw this person as a ranter who had his opportunity to take the microphone and say what he wanted to say. Making any response would just inspire him to rant more and take time away from someone who had a real question.
