Feingold statement on Labor Day

Sen. Russ Feingold issued a statement today honoring working Americans on Labor Day:

“As we honor working Americans this Labor Day, protecting American jobs and putting people back to work must remain our very highest priority. I am committed to supporting Wisconsin businesses and workers by advancing initiatives that fuel job creation and bring down unemployment. First, I will continue to push my jobs tax credit proposal as a way to help any business that hires workers, expands hours for current workers or increases its payroll. I have discussed my proposal directly with the president, as well as members of his administration, and I am encouraged that they are considering such a tax break as a way to help businesses hire new workers. Congress should also take up and pass the small business bill when it returns next week. This legislation would free up necessary credit for small businesses, which are central to job creation in our country. And on Labor Day, as we thank working Americans for building this country, I will continue to stand up for American jobs and fight the unfair trade agreements that send them overseas.

“While Labor Day should be a time to enjoy the company of friends and family, we must not forget that many Americans continue to struggle in the troubled economy. I will continue to support initiatives that will help put Wisconsinites back to work.”

      1. Well you may not like the form, but the topic, Feingold in the midst of what may be the toughest race he’s faced, decides to not be around when Obama comes for a visit, it certainly an interesting one.

        1. Gee, considering Sen. Feingold and his family is from Janesville, it only makes sense that he’d attend that community’s Labor Day celebration. Given that Janesville’s event was scheduled at the same time as President Obama was scheduled to appear in Milwaukee, I don’t know how Feingold could have been in two places at once.

          1. Wow, talk about spin. When the President is from your party & comes to your home state to stump, you make a minor adjustment to your schedule. You introduce him, give a speech & hop in the car. If you want to, that is. I mean, we’re not talking about driving across the state here, the schedule conflict is an obvious excuse.

If I’m his family or a supporter from Janesville, I want him to get the photo-op and a few minutes with the President and would gladly have him leave early or arrive late in Janesville to make it happen.

            1. Seriously? Obama was JUST here. And Feingold certainly didn’t shy away from him at that point.

It was good campaigning on his part to put his hometown first.

          2. Given a president’s schedule and the way his events are announced, wouldn’t there ALWAYS be a scheduling conflict? I mean it’s not like Feingold, or any candidate running for office, is going to have an open day.

Just admit that if Obama was more popular, Russ would have been at his side mugging for the photo op.

  1. HITCHED TO A FALLING ROCK, RUSS IS DESPERATE FOR ANY HELP IN ATTEMPTING TO SAVE HIS POLITICAL CAREER. RUSS, YOU ARE ABOARD A POLITICAL VERSION OF THE TITANIC, AND THERE IS NO WAY OFF!!!!
