Dan Kapanke brags about special interest money

The Cook Political Report recently changed the assessment of Wisconsin’s 3rd CD from “Likely Democrat” to “Leans Democrat.” Republican candidate Dan Kapanke is bragging about the change, and includes this excerpt from Cook in a press release;

This usually sleepy Western Wisconsin district has become a tantalizing target for GOP outside groups, including the 60 Plus Association, which has purchased $565,000 in ad time (that goes quite a long way in Eau Claire and La Crosse) to blast Kind for voting for health care reform.

The 60-Plus Association is heavily funded by the pharmaceutical industry to scare senior citizens into voting Republican, or as Cory Liebmann puts it, “AstroTurf before AstroTurf was cool.”

Why is Dan Kapanke bragging about a Washington group influencing an election here in Wisconsin? That reeks of the type of career-politician, Washington-insider politics Kapanke claims to be running against.
