The Onion may be satire, but this wouldn’t surprise me if it were true

This is just too funny….

As your Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, I’m grateful to have this opportunity to reach out to the people of Wisconsin and draw some distinctions between myself—a D.C. outsider—and Russ Feingold. The incumbent is a classic tax-and-spend liberal who, if elected, will increase the deficit even further. But most importantly, Russ Feingold is a career politician who knows exactly where to find our nation’s capital on a map.

Me? I don’t have the slightest idea. If somebody asked me right now where Washington, D.C. is, I would say north, but that’s really just a shot in the dark. I am literally clueless.

You see, Russ Feingold has been a senator for nearly 20 years. He knows the Beltway backwards and forwards. Heck, I bet he could even tell you which state Washington, D.C. is in. I, on the other hand, don’t even know what the “D.C.” stands for, and I never will. I’ll die before I acquire that information, and that is my promise to you.

Is D.C. where Mount Rushmore is? Beats me. Ask Russ Feingold.

  1. Well the problem is too many know where DC and not where their constituents live. I guess you never believe in “new blood.”

    1. I don’t have a problem with “new blood,” provided that “new blood” is qualified. I realize I’m biased, but Ron Johnson hasn’t shown me much to make me think he’d be an effective legislator in the United States Senate.

      1. How would you consider “new blood” to be qualified? Based on comments I have seen around here lately, it seems like many of you think a qualified candidate either needs to be in local or state office or have a law degree to run for federal office. If I am offbase in that assumption tell me what you consider to be “qualified.”

        1. I judge a candidate to be qualified or unqualified based on the ideas and solutions they articulate during their candidacy, and in Johnson’s case, we haven’t gotten many/any specifics on what he’d do if elected. If Ron Johnson’s unwilling/unable to articulate clear and specific ideas on what kind of Senator he’d be, then he’s unqualified in my opinion.

          1. “Hope,” “Change,” and “Yes we can” was all that was needed in 2008 and that worked out pretty well for Barack.

  2. Of course Russ would know DC inside and out he is a career politcian who knows DC but has forgotten about the people of Wis. and only one of the many reasons he is going to get voted out.

      1. *Yawn*

It must be a bummer to carry water for Feingold. He has largely ignored Wisconsinites in his support for the stimulus (polls showed more Wisconsin residents were against it than for it), health care legislation (again, polls showed that more Wisconsinites opposed it than favored it), and his support for an increase in the debt ceiling.

Of all of those recent votes, which one of those are looking out for the financial solvency of the federal government or, for that matter, the state of Wisconsin?

Feingold does not care about his constituents until it is time to campaign for office. That is why his witching hour is coming on Tuesday.

          1. The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Johnson, picking up 53% of the vote. Feingold, who has represented the state in the Senate since 1993, draws support from 46%. Only one percent (1%) are undecided at this point.

    1. Lol well that skews EVERYTHING!!!! Just messing with them or you do have some sort of devious strategy going on?

  3. nope forgot kinda messin and want to make sure the dems keep working hard and the rojo starts to rest on his laurels….

  4. I’m putting cash on the fact that Razzy didn’t even do a second poll, and just randomly added a point of “fewer undecideds”. Check the differences

2 weeks ago, Johnson 52-45 Now, Johnson 53-46
2 weeks ago, Walker 51-42 Now, Walker 52-42

That doesn’t happen in random samples. Razzy’s a fraud, but Razzy’s trying to drive the agenda, because he’s on the same team as Fox and WisGOP. If you don’t fall for it, and vote, Ron Johnson is an historical footnote by this time next week. You can tell this on the ground.

    1. Is Rasmussen only polling land lines, or are they using cell phone numbers as well? I ask because that could certainly alter the accuracy of the poll.
