yeah that train sure would be a life saver for the guy in Eagle River who needs to get down to Wausau
oh wait it was only being built for the elite in Madison so they could get to Milwaukee, but hey that guy in Eagle River still would be able to subsidize the money loser, Madison elite have no problem with that.
By your logic, why should I have to pay for the roads that guy will use to get from Eagle River to Wausau? I’m unlikely to ever need to use those roads, so then I shouldn’t have to pay for them, right?
Good point, notalib. With the massive amount of daily traffic between Eagle River and Wausau one can only wonder why that route wasn’t chosen for high speed rail.
yeah! and stop funding all of those stupid Waukesha roads because they don’t much help that guy in in Eagle River! why should he have to help subsidize them?
Notalib’s concerns for that guy in Eagle River are so touching that I got out my John Boehner/Glenn Beck mini Vicks Vaporub swab that I got for Christmas, and whipped up some tears pronto. Excuse me, I have to go blow my nose.
That’s a joke that never gets old…
Notalib hoists himself on his own petard….a common occurrence that never stops amusing.
Hiawatha? Empire Builder? Those don’t count?
$5 gasoline will wreak havoc with the budgets of all small towns. The costs of mowing and plowing will double. When we add in police departments and road maintenance vehicles (diesel is always more expensive than gasoline)I imagine that many towns will cut back on these ‘niceties’.
Your gas tank with 20 gallons in it becomes a quick $100 to any poor person with a hose. And if you fill your tank once a week, that’s a $400 monthly outlay to get around.
The costs of transporting all those fruits and vegetables from California, Florida, Texas, and Arizona to your store in Wisconsin will increase dramatically.
The worst thing about inflation is that it hurts the poor the most.
Oil prices have risen because our currency is beining devalued due to debtloads and the proposal to insulate us from high gas prices is more spending and more debt?
What a vicious cycle it has become
We had passenger trains in the forties and fifties that were as fast as anything that
are being proposed of today ! The problem is people quit riding them . We have a train
wright now that goes to Chicago, but how many people ride it on a regular basis.
We can not let the trains go any faster then people can get out of the way
at rail crossings ! If anything needs improvment, it is our freight trains because
they effect the real cost of all kinds products and things .
Present day trains go to fast for people to get out of the way now, as witnessed
by the many accidents we see each year. Unless you have a track system that is closed
in or elevated, there is no need for faster trains !!!
