“Impartial” Justice Prosser promises to be complement to Republicans

Apparently Justice David Prosser isn’t a big believer in three independent branches of government (emphasis mine):

“Our campaign efforts will include building an organization that will return Justice Prosser to the bench, protecting the conservative judicial majority and acting as a common sense compliment to both the new administration and legislature.

In response to Justice Prosser’s promise to act as a “compliment” (more likely that was supposed to be “complement”) to Republicans in the legislature and governor’s mansion, one of Prosser’s challengers, Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg, attacked Prosser’s lack of impartiality;

“For a sitting judge to promise that he will work to further the ends of the other two branches of government shows an enormous disregard for the separation of powers and the role of the court as an independent, impartial body that ought to promise just one thing: to decide cases on the law and the facts brought forth in those cases,”

This promises to be a fun race…

  1. I used the Prosser quote earlier in the primary, but have not been able to track down when and where it was first made. Can you help? Bryce
