As a part of his “Roadmap for America’s Future,” Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Janesville) has proposed turning Medicare into a voucher program in 2021 and raising its retirement age. Under Rep. Ryan’s proposal, individuals who turn 65 on or after January 1, 2021 would get a government voucher to buy private insurance from companies participating in a new “exchange” – a sort of insurance market similar to the ones that would be created by the Democratic health care reform legislation signed into law last year – and which Rep. Ryan opposed.

    Because nothing says “Death Panels” like vouchers. And this wouldn’t be a massive government takeover of healthcare how?
