WI Supreme Court race tightens up…does that spell trouble for Prosser?

As reported by Robert Costa of the National Review, the polls between incumbent Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser and challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg are tightening up, which certainly can’t be a good sign for Justice Prosser.

Two sources with knowledge of internal GOP polling tell us that Prosser and Kloppenburg are near even, a bad sign for the incumbent. “She has driven his negatives up,” one source says. “It will be hard to drive hers up. Her lack of judicial experience should hurt her, but it also makes her harder to pin down. The question now is: Does the Right have enough resources to counter the Greater Wisconsin Committee’s millions? And even if they do, is it too late? It is going to be touch-and-go for these last few days.”

While I’m inclined to believe JoAnne Kloppenburg will emerge victorious thanks to a re-energized liberal base, I still think her race with Justice Prosser will be an absolute nailbiter.

  1. I’d love the sweet irony if the first victim of Governor Overreach was Justice Prosser, resulting in the court swinging away from Walker. Let the backlash begin.

  2. Tightening up? I haven’t seen any polling numbers, but at this point, I’d really be shocked if Prosser wins. Those voting against him (rather than truly for Kloppenberg since I’m not sure they actually exist) are obviously tremendously energized. And organized. The right are really are neither. In Wisconsin middle of the road voters tend to vote much more conservatively for judges than other offices – but this is a spring election with no other “exciting” races. So the middle/undecideds won’t bother to vote.

Add to that the huge spending gap. The anti-Prosser ads have gotta outnumber pro-Prosser (are there even any?) and anti-Kloppenberg ads 10 to 1 or more.

Anybody want to throw their predictions out there for turnout & results?

  3. And keep in mind that the den of undenial liberals (i.e Milwaukee) has a number of hotly contested races (County Exec, County Supervisors, and School Board) that will provide a higher turnout than the rest of the state…which will be a plus for the anti-Prosser bandwagon

  4. I hope the people of wisconsin come out on the 5th and stand up to Dane and Milwaukee county. We must not allow two counties controlled by radical leftwing unions to dictate t the middle class of this state how this state will be runned. This is the time that all of WIsconsin stands up to union thugs like AFCSME who are threatening honest business people, stand up to thug groups like WEAC and the Green Bay teachers union who were trying to force people to boycott businesses that supported the middle class. Enough is enough if these unions want to terrorize, bully and threaten to get their free ride from your paycheck on April 5th tell them all where they can go and be sure to vote for David Prosser, DO NOT let a union goon like his opponent trample on your freedoms

    1. Notalib…I suggest you have your parents ask for a refund on their property taxes…your education didn’t take!

    2. If Plosser loses, then immediate mass public sector lay-offs should begin, and the private sector employers must flee the union-enforced boycotts. One would think that public school teachers, with their supposed superior intellect, would be able to figure this out. Not to worry though..you may lose your job and have nowhere else to go, but your UNION BOSS will survive just fine. Doesn’t just that give you a thrill up your leg?? Losers..all of you!

  5. WI certainly doesn’t need any more ignorant, money grubbing, uncaring Reslugs in office.

  6. “Republicans approve of the American farmer, but they are willing to help him go broke. They stand four-square for the American home–but not for housing. They are strong for labor–but they are stronger for restricting labor’s rights. They favor minimum wage–the smaller the minimum wage the better. They endorse educational opportunity for all–but they won’t spend money for teachers or for schools. They think modern medical care and hospitals are fine–for people who can afford them. They consider electrical power a great blessing–but only when the private power companies get their rake-off. They think American standard of living is a fine thing–so long as it doesn’t spread to all the people. And they admire of Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it.”
