One Honest Minute

After posting the outright lies on Republican Senator Kyl, here is the best speech I have ever seen a republican give. While I dont always agree with Senator Simpson I am 100% behind him here!

  1. We need more Republicans like this. I’m pretty painfully liberal it hurts, but I have a lot of respect for the old Republicans.

  2. the old Republicans

It’s not really a matter of old vs. new. It’s south v. west. A lot of the westerners – especially the intermountain west – are indeed excellent on certain issues.

But don’t be fooled. They’re still nuts. This guy, for example, introduced several excellent anti-discrimination bills when I lived in Colo.

    1. Oh trust me, I do agree they can be very nuts. I can just acknowledge that sometimes they have moments of clarity. As far I am concerned, the conservatives have been the cancer that have been killing America for years and they keep dodging responsibility. (I did not say Republicans, since once upon a time, the Republicans were the progressives.)

Personally, I always saw it with Republicans being South vs. West vs. Suburbia. For example, one of the worst in my opinion are definitely the people in Suburbia since they just allow the Southern Republicans to do whatever they want just as long as they just get power and are more concerned with having that instead of doing their jobs.

  3. I’m giving away my age but my first brush with greatness occurred when Barry Goldwater held a door open for my mother at the Phoenix airport in 1963. I understand that towards the end of his life the AZ Republican Party wanted to strip his name off of some building. He was too liberal for them. In other words he didn’t give a rat’s kester about gays in the military (or any where else) and his wife Peggy, was a leader of Planned Parenthood in AZ.
I also appreciated his threat to kick Jerry Falwell in the “rear end.”

PS I understand his response to the removal of his name from the building was something like “if that’s the way you all behave/think, I want my name off the building.”

Bravo Barry, a gentleman we need now
