color me not at all surprised….

This from Real Debate , a video with the title “color me not surprised, Obama birth certificate faked.” The video is so ridiculous and because this issue is only for the loons, I wont link the video here(you have to go to his site if you want to waste 7 minutes). However I will give you a better video for those who think that Obama was not a natural born citizen:

  1. You mean to tell me that Fred Dooley is a partisan hack, charlatan, and conspiracy whackjob? Surely you jest, good sir. How dare you accuse him of things that are actually true?

    1. At times like this, I agree with Fred Dooley that it is important to divert the conversation to a discussion of the physical appearance of our political opponents [e.g. his Kloppenburg caricature].

So, with that in mind, let us all take a moment to contemplate what Fred Dooley looks like because Dooley-esque “conventional wisdom” would hold that, based upon his physical appearance, he has nothing valid to say:

      http://www.facebook.com/people/Fred-Dooley/675186374 [Yikes!!!]

http://www.gunaxin.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/BunsenHoneydew.jpg [tip of the hat to “gnarlytrombone” for having found this]

(*laughing*) Okay, I do actually have something serious and relevant to contibute to the discussion. (*wink*)

Drooley wrote the following on his blog in the Comment Section following the video and related text:

“I’ve never bought into this [BUT IF] this document is really fake [sic] it seems you have to ask if the man is constitutionally able to serve in office. If not, that is damned important.”

So, HE doesn’t believe that the long form birth certificate is fake, but, because some yahoo on the Internet says that it it is, well, THAT’S good enough for Drooley to “hold out the possibility” that it is, post the video, and continue to promote the repeatedly debunked wingnut/dingbat/birther theory that the President is somehow not really American.

      Sound familiar?

EVERY wingnut/dingbat, conservative blogger and birther-pandering Republican in sight is lined up with Drooley. They’re also hanging their hat on the, “Why did it take him so long to release it”, canard, as if the President has the need to honor every wild-eyed and malicious “request” that a wingnut/dingbat/birther makes, much less an “obligation” to honor it.

So, Drooley says, let’s keep the story, the myth, the conspiracy, anything that points to President Obama’s “otherness”, alive. Drooley doesn’t BELIEVE any of it, but JUST as long as someone else does, his hands are apparently tied, and he has to keep talking about it and/or promoting it and/or posting crap like this.

It was never about the birth certificate, anyway. It is, and was always, about delegitimating President Obama because he is an African-American. No other sitting American President has ever been, or, as long as he or she is white, will ever be, subjected to this kind of [racist] bullsh*t.

    2. Per Jed Lewison today at http://www.DailyKos.com:

“So the birthers have been reborn: they now think the newly-released long-form birth certificate is a forgery.

Basically their complaint boils down to the fact that PDF files containing images of the copy of the original birth certificate don’t actually contain the original birth certificate. That is of course true in much the same way that [a] picture of pizza isn’t really pizza. But just like you wouldn’t get very far if you tried to eat [a picture of a slice of pizza], you shouldn’t expect to actually find a physical copy of Obama’s original birth certificate inside the digital PDF of the document.”

      http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com had more:

“With Drudge Report’s Help, Birthers Latch Onto Phony Forgery Theory”

“In a predictable turn, conspiracy theorists are now rallying behind a bogus claim that President Obama’s long form birth certificate is a Photoshopped forgery — with a huge helping hand from one of conservative media’s biggest names.

The fringe theory’s rapid spread within hours of the certificate’s release presents almost a perfect example of one of the White House’s justifications for taking on the birther issue — namely, that thanks to the internet, conspiracy theories can migrate quickly from the fringe and into the mainstream if left unchecked.

In this case, it took only hours. The forgery claim appeared to have first started as an offbeat blog post from an Atlanta-based art director at an ad firm, Bryan Michael Nixon, less than two hours after Obama’s statement. By the end of the day it had become a headline on Drudge Report, one of the single most trafficked news sites on the internet. The debunked forgery revelation drew thousands of comments on messageboards, migrated to birther and truther conspiracy guru Alex Jones’ site, while a video explanation was viewed over 160,000 times on YouTube.

  2. From the New York Times editorial (Thursday 4-28) entitled, “Certificate of Embarrassment”:

“If there was ever any doubt about Mr. Obama’s citizenship, which there was not, the issue was settled years ago when Hawaii released his birth certificate. The fuller document that Mr. Obama had to request contains some extra information, including his parents’ signatures and the name of the hospital where he was born, but it was unnecessary to show his legitimacy.

So it will not quiet the most avid attackers. Several quickly questioned its authenticity. That’s because the birther question was never really about citizenship; it was simply a proxy for those who never accepted the president’s legitimacy, for a toxic mix of reasons involving ideology, deep political anger and, most insidious of all, race. It was originally promulgated by fringe figures of the radical right, but mainstream Republican leaders allowed it to simmer to satisfy those who are inflamed by Mr. Obama’s presence in the White House.”

Shame on Trump and the rest of the birthers, along with the cynical birther-enabling Republicans who let this bullsh*t fester and percolate, who refused to exercise responsible leadership by decrying it.

President Obama was again the adult in the room. Voters, particularly Independents, will remember that.

The country should be proud that he is the face of America. I know that I am.

  3. Why not link to the video? I’d like to hear what folks have to say about it without having to go to it’s blog.

  4. Oh my God! An anonymous tech geek has blown wide open the fake Obama birth certificate scandal! It has to be true because anonymous tech geek informs us he does this for a living, plus he posted it on the internet! Oh my God, what a story!

Someone call the press right away! I would, but I have a conference call coming in on my back molar filling from L. Ron Hubbard and Elvis, who want to warn earth of an impending invasion from oblong shaped lizard aliens hell bent on taking over Burger King.

  5. Obama graduated magna cum laude (top 10%) and was editor in chief of the Law Review. Trump and the wingnut conservatives seems to think that grading is on a special curve for minorities, so of course voting for law review has nothing to do with ability, it’s all about who is the blackest. (Obama was the first black EIC).

Furthermore Obama went to Punahou, a prep school that costs $17,800 a year and many of whose students go on to the Ivy League. Which he did. So it wasn’t unusual in any shape or form — it was actually pretty usual in a privileged way.

First he is too ethnic suspicious to be an American Citizen, now he is too black dumb to graduate from college. What’s next?

    1. Please dont ask whats next….i shudder to think

Me too, Jeff. If they can’t challenge his legitimacy one way, they’ll do it another.

But I’m seriously hoping Trump runs. He’ll drag the whole GOP field to the loony right even if he loses. If he wins, well, we all know what would happen if the President debated the walking bad hair day.

    2. They’ll never shut up. They said Obama wasn’t born in the U.S. so he released his birth certificate. They said it wasn’t real because it was short form and not long form. Obama finally released the long form and they saying that’s not real either, or he forfeited his citizenship when he moved to Indonesia or he stole Social Security numbers. Now they want him to release his college transcripts to prove that he got into Columbia and Harvard Law School on his own merits. If he releases the transcripts, and his grades are good, they’ll claim the transcripts were doctored and demand something else, like his permanent record from grade school. Before it’s all over, the birthers will probably demand that he take a DNA test in order to prove that Malia and Sasha are really his biological children and weren’t kidnapped from Kenya.

Afterwards they will ask for x-ray’s of his legs to prove they are really bone. It’s the next logical step.

  6. Even the argument that Hawaii when he was born doesn’t hold water, since it was made a state two years prior to his birth.

Besides, we can make this argument against John McCain since he wasn’t a ‘natural born citizen’ like people require him to be because he was born in Panama Canal Zone or Barry Goldwater who was born in Arizona but before it became a state.

  7. I don’t think much of Fred Dooley, but I wouldn’t have thought him to be a full-throated birther, especially in the face of the long form birth certificate birthers have been screaming to see for the better part of two years.

Fred’s lost what little – and I do mean little – bit of credibility he may have had.

  8. Here’s Fred’s response to me, via email, since he apparently doesn’t want to engage us in a dialog:

he person in the video makes a compelling case that the form was altered. That means the form could be altered, nothing more.

I’ve never bought into the birther stuff. But you just go ahead and assume and tell lies it is what you do best.

By the way….Fred’s video has already been debunked:

      1. I love how he says that he had no opinion of it he just posted it. As bloggers we have a million topics a day we COULD write about but have to choose the few that pique our interest the most.

This silly story spread through the rightwing cheddarsphere simply to keep the story alive for the truly looney right wing tea party fringe. That allows them to continue to be racist without actually saying the words.

PS: i would have posted this on your blog red but i dont have any of those ids and being comp illiterate couldnt figure out how to get one.

    1. Some say Fred Dooley is into beastiality. Now, I don’t buy into that, but it’s possible, so I feel it’s pertinent to post that here. Inquiring minds want to know.

      1. Some say Fred Dooley is into beastiality. Now, I don’t buy into that, but it’s possible, so I feel it’s pertinent to post that here. Inquiring minds want to know.

Ha. Personally, I think the best way to deal with such hasty retreats from an issue they themselves are bringing up is direct confrontation. Either they are insincere bloggers posting about things they actually don’t care about, or they lack the courage of their convictions to defend their views when challenged. That charge usually pisses them off something fierce, maybe because it strikes close to home.

Or maybe I just get a kick out of implying that gun-loving machismo-obsessed righty bloggers are actually cowards.

  9. Everyone needs to realize something. What Trump and his menions are really suggesting is Obama is a Affirmative Action President. He got the job because he was black. Not because he was qualified. This is what black men have to deal with every day.

And if they do it to the Leader of the Free World imagine what they do to some black kid straight out of high school.

It’s time to have the conversation folks.

    1. And if they do it to the Leader of the Free World imagine what they do to some black kid straight out of high school.

Those words never rung anymore true to me. I’m not but black, but I know how it’s like to have your creditability and your skill questioned at every opportunity due to you being a minority by jealous people who simply didn’t know to take critique, listen to their customers when they wanted what they paid for changed, or improve overall when you’re in a demanding field of design. They were likely always complimented for their work in doing pin up art, now have to wake up and smell the roses that they need to learn perspective, proportion, color theory, and do actual backgrounds.

Instead, of genuinely critiquing me for my work like I personally want so I can improve? They attack my race. Pathetic.

      1. If it isn’t clear: I actually love my company I work for. It’s a job that makes me happy.

I just dislike the people who I was competing against to get the job in the first place when they spit that in my face in the end saying that I was only chosen because I was a minority and that there were ‘much more capable white people out there than me.’ Yes I am aware of there being better artists than me – but I wouldn’t say all of them are white and furthermore… They were they competing for the job now, were they?

  10. They weren’t* they competing for the job now, were they?

Sometimes I need to proof read.

  11. thats funny that he emailed you zach….Here is the thing nowhere on his post did he say it was ridiculous…it is like the chickensh*t republican elected officials who would always say….”i have no reason to believe he wasnt born here” meaning he might be but im not exactly sure. Its meant to keep the true right wing tea party loons fed and its disgusting. That was the point of freds piece and he knows it.
