In related news, David Plouffe, who managed then-Senator Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008, will not serve as campaign manager for President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign, ceding that responsibility to Jim Messina, a longtime aide to Montana Senator Max Baucus. Messina is far from being a progressive, so given President Obama’s race to the middle of the political spectrum, Messina being chosen to manage Obama’s reelection campaign shouldn’t be a surprise.
