Reince Priebus calls for Weiner to resign, but where was his outrage over Randy Hopper’s affair?

In the wake of Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner’s revelation that he has engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior with at least six women via Twitter, Facebook, email, and on the telephone, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus has issued a statement calling for Rep. Weiner to resign.

“Congressman Weiner’s actions and deception are unacceptable and he should resign. We do not need an investigation to know he lied and acted inappropriately, we need a resignation,” said Priebus in a written statement. “Either Leader Pelosi and DNC Chair Wasserman Schultz believe members of Congress are held to a different set of standards or they believe these actions demand his resignation.”

Now perhaps I missed it, but I can’t seem to recall Reince Priebus issuing a statement with the same tone of righteous indignation when it was revealed Republican State Senator Randy Hopper was having an extramarital affair with a Republican campaign operative.

Where was Reince Priebus’ call for Randy Hopper to resign when it was revealed Hopper had not only had an extramarital affair, but had also filed for divorce from his wife as a result of that extramarital affair?

What’s more, where were all those extreme far-right bloggers here in Wisconsin who are now making hay of Rep. Weiner’s indiscretions and lying when it was revealed Randy Hopper had engaged in a prolonged extramarital affair?

  1. To be honest, I don’t like to get into these sort of arguments. The wingnuts have perfected the art of diversion … let them keep it.

  2. Once again just like Clintons problems the left wing circle the wagons to protect a human slug and miss the whole point. It does not matter that the pig was cheating on his wife, that is private and personal the problem is HE LIED to cover it up just like Clinton did, THAT is what the problem is.. Now I know that liberals have a hard time distinguishing between a lie and the truth because they do it so often but trust me on this one he is a slug.

    1. Of course it would be tit-for-tat. Name me a party head in recent memory who was not a hypocritical – who did not defend members of his party while criticizing members of the other for the same action. That’s their job.

This just in – in a shocking revelation, the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders are inconsistent hypocrites for not cheering on good plays made by the Eagles or Redskins.

      1. I agree with both of you. In a country of uninformed voters, I think its important to have stuff like this on the record so that no one could ever mistakenly think that Priebus has ever had the moral high ground, thats all.

  3. Isn’t it more important that Hopper does not reside in the district he represents? (Or does he now go home to his donors’ convenient apartment address now?) I don’t care need to know his immature lovelife behavior.
