Ron Johnson, Van Wangaard to attend fundraiser at home of man charged with prostitution

According to his campaign website, later tonight Republican State Sen. Van Wangaard of Racine will be joined by Republican U.S. Senator Ron Johnson at a fundraiser to help “protect” Wangaard. According to Wangaard’s website, the fundraiser will be held at the Caledonia home of Akil and Rehana Ajmeri.

I can’t help but wonder how conservative “family values” types like Ron Johnson and Van Wangaard (who’s a former police officer) feel about the fact that Akil Ajmeri was charged with prostitution in 1993 after he solicited sex in exchange for money from an undercover Milwaukee Police officer.

No doubt if these were two Democratic elected officials, conservatives would be frothing at the mouth as they criticized those Democrats for having no morals/a lack of judgment/etc.

  1. I’m beginning to believe everything goes in Racine County (especially in Caledonia). I would really be interested in who attends this fundraiser. Is there any way to get a guest list?

  2. Twenty year old charge that he was never convicted of and it was dropped. I noticed that the only way you can figure that out is to click through the really small link in the middle of your post. This is pretty slimy of you.

    1. Notice I said he was charged, not convicted. I posted the court documents to make it abundantly clear that he was not convicted.

I fail to see how this is slimy; this is a matter of public record.

      1. Attacking someone who is not a public figure for a 20 year old charge that was dismissed to score a petty political point against a politician you do not like is petty. You are doing more damage to our side with posts like this.

          1. Keep telling yourself that. That actually makes what you did worse, and if you cannot see that then you should step back and reevaluate your life.

  3. Way to go John. You know, I could have been at this fundraiser this evening. The dismissal / acquittal should have had the house organ for the DPW think twice before publishing this slander.

I think I will encourage Mr. Ajmeri to sue.

    1. First of all, it would be libel, not slander (there’s actually a difference!), but since I’ve written nothing that isn’t true, I’m not worried.

The facts are the facts: Akil Ajmeri was charged in 1993 with Prostitution. Never once did I alleged Mr. Ajmeri was convicted; in fact I posted the court documents which clearly show he wasn’t.

Nice try and have a great night!

    2. Mark, I thought you were the head person for the recall in Racine County? Why would you be going to a fundraiser held specifically for the purpose of “protecting” Van Wangaard, who you are actively working to recall? Something seems fishy here to me.

  4. Who did he think the undercover officer was? He probably thought she/he was someone on their way to church and was just going to pass her/him some cash to put in the collection basket.

  5. I wonder if ROJo considers this his first listening session…and it appears by giving $$$$ ROJO & Van WAAN that Mr. Ajmeri does have a things for prostitutes.

  6. Jeff- Good point, given that RoJo seems quite allergic to speaking to us commoners that don’t pay an admission charge.

Looks like we need to put suburban Race-eene in the same category as the other 262 suburb slime. Then again, they live next to the unemployment capital of Wisconsin, and vote for corporate shills like Robin Vos and Paul Ryan, so you know these people are the definition of FOS.

  7. Zach,

I don’t understand why you say Republicans have to wait for two Democratic officials to go to a fund raiser like this.

If memory serves, all we have to do is wait for the next time Gordon Hintz gets a message.

  9. The recall is less than a week old, and you are already off the issues and instead digging up 20 year old dirt…threw in the towel a bit early on this one, don’t you think?

  10. You told us it didn’t matter when it was Obama and Bill Ayers and a fundraiser, so why do you expect us to care now?
