Because Even Black People can be Racists

Not what you think, though.  This is a self-loathing sort of racism that Herman Cain seems to revel in.

Check out this neat-o bumpersticker you can get!

It goes really well with this picture!

        1. Sure it is, as it plays on the obvious connotation that black slaves deserve to be beaten with canes, as T points out below. I don’t know how many racists you KNOW, but your intentional refusal to acknowledge this obvious connotation is pretty good evidence that you might BE one.

        1. Zach…you see what intelligent people have taken over your blog?? This Steven doesn’t even know me…doesn’t even have a clue about what I believe in…and then without any kind of knowledge spouts off that I’m a “racist”. You should be just as upset at people like Steven who arbitrarily call people racist as you are with people like Mark who use racist terms. Both are wrong. Both are ignorant. Both deserve to be addressed.

            1. No. The difference is you did in fact make sexist comments and there is nothing in my comment that is racist. You see the difference? You branded yourself a sexist by being one.

        2. Let’s not jump to conclusions, okay? Just because Anon doesn’t think this bumper sticker is racist doesn’t automatically mean Anon “knows many racists.”

    1. Anon, I disagree, but I think this bumper sticker is doubly reprehensible because it’s promoting violence against a sitting president.

Is this what passes for conservatives “raising the dialogue?”

      1. And remember, righties got their undies all in a bunch when there was a bumper sticker showing Walker’s head getting bumped into bya train, claiming that it was “out of bounds” and “promoting violence.” If true, then what does it mean when you make a joke about “beating the (African-American) president with a Cain.” HMMMMMM???

The double-standard and hypocrisy is thick with these d-bags.

      2. BTW, Zach…I have officially given up on trying to raise dialogue with conservatives. No sense in banging one’s head into a wall…right?

I accept we disagree on this issue…and that’s okay. 🙂

  1. Racism is a sensitive subject overall in a country which tries to justify the cruelty or ignore what they’ve done in the past by playing it down.

I have to say ‘beat Obama with a Cain’ is pretty racist, due to the connotations of it – due to beating with a cane was often a cruel practice that happened at times to punish a slave.

It’s a lot like those people who walked around with shirts that said: Save a fish, spear an Indian back then in my opinion. Sure, a lot of people didn’t see it as racist, but they didn’t exactly have genocide deliberately on their race in American History. Just as here, white people as slaves were almost unheard of in America, except save a few during early settlement which often eventually became a case of them eventually intermingling. Black slaves didn’t have that privilege.

That being said, it’s very much possible for a black person being racist – but somehow I get a feeling that the person who made this sticker was black. So we can’t exactly blame Cain for this in particular, even if he should be held accountable for his actions elsewhere.

      1. I think we should ignore stuff like this. They put it out knowing how some of us will react. It’s a provocation, nothing more.

        To borrow Herman’s rhyming style,

” It’s the Cain campaign yankin’ your chain “

        1. Pretty much., it was made on zazzle for crying outloud. There’s always really stupid, dumb, and racist stickers on there due to them not being professional.

  2. It’s a play on words folks. If our current president was not half black I am positive Cain’s team would have used the same play on words. They thought they were being clever and I am sure racism never ever entered their minds…as it didn’t enter into my mind. Also…it’s not promoting violence because the “Cain” they are going to use to “beat” President Obama with is a person (not a stick). Holy Cow…and I thought I was sensitive.

    1. Really, you’re kind of digging yourself into a deeper hole here. I think you should stop while you still can climb out of it.

As I stated, it is racist. However considering it was probably made by some idiot who has no connection to the Cain Campaign, it’s not a big topic to worry about unless it is actually brought out by Cain himself. A minority can be racist, but Cain himself or his campaign for that matter had nothing to do with this. Therefore, a minority in this case has no connection to what some white people are doing.

Now, if something like this comes out of his actual campaign, the big one they’re organizing – that’s another story. This however? Just some idiot on his own who had photoshop and whipped this up in less than five minutes. (I’m pretty much assuming they’re white, because there’s a lot of “Honkies for Cain” if you look at the stickers.)

      1. Who are you talking addressing, T? If you are addressing me rest assured I’m not in any hole. I know you said it was racist, and you know I said it wasn’t. So what. As I told Zach…I’m fine with us not agreeing. It’s not like I’m supporting Cain…I really could not care any less about him. It was just the principle of someone/something being called racist for political points. That’s wrong in my book.

        1. I don’t think you’re personally a judge to say something isn’t racist when it doesn’t have the same impact on you. Therefore, are you really a judge of that? It’s along the lines if someone from London called someone Irish/Welsh/Scottish made a joke about their genocide and getting rid of their culture so they can fit in with normal society even if it was just a sticker or a cute shirt.

However, I won’t bother going into semantics about this. I got things to do, other topics to talk abut and I will likely get a lot of defensive people jumping in on it saying they are not racist, when it’s actually often what they say is racist.

This sums up everything better than I can. Don’t worry, it’s short.

          1. Of course I can judge for myself what I think is and is not racist. It’s called my opinion. If our President was white I’m sure whomever made this bumper sticker would have used the same play on words. Would that have been racist? Anyhoo…carry on…

  3. Shit. I’m going to reverse my original opinion. It is very possible this bumper sticker could have been intended to racist.

      1. Sure, you can ask. I clicked the link. Doh. When will I learn to always click the link…? After seeing this bumper sticker maker’s “store” it’s obvious to me this guy has issues. Sorry all.
