Today a recall committee of one, filed papers to initiate a recall of Governor Walker. The thing is the person who filed the petition is a nobody, and scott walker supporter, who the republican party coerced into doing their dirty work.
David Brandt of Muskego filed a recall petition Friday with the state Government Accountability Board, under the committee name “Close Friends to Recall Walker.” Brandt, along with Bettie Brandt, both listed as living at 17176 W. College Ave., donated a total of $238 to Walker since September 2010.
The unusual move of having a supporter file recall paperwork immediately angered Walker opponents, who suspected it was made to give the governor a chance to begin raising money before organizers begin their actual recall campaign.
Officials with GAB confirmed Friday that the formation of Brandt’s committee would allow Walker to begin fundraising now, a full 11 days before the Democratic Party of Wisconsin had planned to officially start the recall effort on Nov. 15.
Typically, and rightly so, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin was upset by the lack of morals in the republican party.
“While we certainly understand that thousands of Wisconsinites can’t wait to recall Scott Walker, we find it convenient that, days before Walker goes on a (campaign fundraising trip) to Arizona, Kansas and California, recall papers are filed by a donor to Scott Walker that will allow Walker to bag all the sleazy campaign cash he can get his hands on,” said Mike Tate, Democratic Party of Wisconsin chairman.
Also typically, the republican party had no problem lying to the people of Wisconsin.
But Stephan Thompson, executive director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin, said his organization had no idea about Brandt. “The rumors that the Democrats are circulating are completely false,” he said.
Well we knew there would be many obstacles to overcome in recalling Governor walker, and we should have figured out that misleading the voters like this would be on their agenda. Governor walkers policies, have been so disasterous, that he is going to need all of the money he can get to muddy the waters in the next few months. You know that they are very worried about a successful recall which is why they are trying to change the recall rules, and come up with unethical games like this. They poll also.
Some questions I have are who thought of this idea and how did they pick out a nobody like david brandt to do their dirty deeds?
With the electorate engaged like never before, does the republican party really think that the voters of Wisconsin will believe them when they act innocent?
Who is the “fake democrat” that they are planning to run to force a primary and postpone the inevitable even longer?
If you want the answer to these questions or others, David Brant and “Close Friends to Recall Walker” might have the answers.

one of several other questions: If indeed the “Close Friends to Recall Walker” distribute recall petitions and some Wisconsinites sign these faux petitions and the authentic ones will those signatures be invalid?

Jeff, why would you suggest that folks call David Brandt whenever they want, if not to suggest that folks engage in harassment? There’s absolutely no reason to stoop to that level.
Not at all. If he is a legit org. He will have a dedicated phone. He is not getting 540000 signatures working bankers hours.
Jeff, this may indeed be a farce, but I fail to understand how advocating for folks calling him at all hours serves any purpose beyond harassing the guy.
legit org and will have a dedicated phone number? most candidates don’t have dedicated phone number and run their campaigns from there homes…and I doubt even you could get many recall signatures at 2 AM.
I think i explained it….he will need people calling him to sign. 540000 signatures will not be easy to get. we need to all pitch in. Since he wants scott walker recalled im certain he would agree.
So he’ll need people calling him at 2:00 a.m.?

After all, you wrote people should call him WHENEVER they had questions. I guess I just disagree with your “at all costs” mentality when it comes to things, because while I certainly believe Brandt may actually be initiating this recall effort at the behest of the GOP, I don’t believe that harassing him at all hours of the day and night does anything other than showing a complete lack of regard or respect.

On a more serious tip, let’s stay to the plan, and not sign a recall petition for another 10 days, and then expose any d-bag who donates to Walker between Nov. 4-14, and hurt them and their business so badly it’ll send the message across the state and the country- stop screwing with Wisconsin and its politics.
I brought this issue up behind the scenes…but it was essentially ignored. But I stand with Zach on this one. Personal harassment shouldn’t be on our list of political actions.

This is not student council president, what is going on in this state matters and is greatly affecting every single family in this state.
If he is going to play games likes this do we say”wow well played” or do we say ok if thats how you want to play it so be it.
Yes Maybe the snow plow drivers this winter before they start their route could give him a call and offer to sign.
Ah, so in other words you believe he deserves to be harassed at all hours of the day and night by virtue of you believing that his filing a recall petition against Scott Walker is a sham.
Jeff, if you want to support personal harassment then so be it, but having been on the receiving end of harassment myself I think what you’re proposing is out of bounds.

I also find its interesting that he is not answering any calls from any reporters or explianing himself whatsoever.
How can you do a dirty unethical trick like this and then not have to face any consequences? What if Walker wins his recall because he has so much extra cash he can bombard with just enough ads to squeek out a victory? Then David Brandt from Muskego will be a hero to the right and our rights and education system etc… will continue to be slashed. But hey we were nice guys about it.
Again back to previous posts I dont see a difference between what Segway or Kristan are doing and what this guy is doing except their stories gets splashed on the 6 o clock news and we need to leave this poor guy alone so he can go hunting.
Ok let me amend what isay a touch. I do not think that people should call up Mr. Brandt and harass him. I do however, since he made himself the point person in charge of collecting 540,000 signatures in 60 days, if you have a legit recall question, concern, call him.
I also think because he has such a large task ahead of him, that he should be open to taking and answering questions whenever people have them.
Do NOT call him and threaten him, or swear at him, or leave anonymous stupid emails or messages(I have received all of those also) but if you want to know, where you sign, where you pick up a petition, what to say to people who are on the fence, recall election laws, where we are at signature wise, etc… By all means call him up.

The GOP might be slimeballs to suggest using castle doctorine to people they can just tell to go away, but I don’t like playing on that level.
Brandt filed a PUBLIC document to start this recall, he put his name and address out there for the whole world to see. I did not get any special tips of who and where he is, he did that all his own.
