I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know much about Ron Paul…but…if you are going to say he is racist could you please share some links (and this time I promise to click on them).

When Ron Paul apologizes the way Robert Byrd did, maybe I’ll get over it.

In his last autobiography, Byrd explained that he was a KKK member because he “was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision —a jejune and immature outlook—seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions.” Byrd also said, in 2005, “I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times … and I don’t mind apologizing over and over again. I can’t erase what happened.”

      From here.

My octogenarian-plus father (not senile – just crazy!) is leaning Ron Paul. This is the man who taught me how to be an activist, the man who introduced me to Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie, who dragged me to moratoriums in DC! The man who protested weekly against the war in Iraq (Dubya’s war that is), the man who was proud of getting arrested protesting for homeless people in SF!

But then, in prior elections, he has voted for Ralph Nader and Ross Perot. I think he just doesn’t want to be tainted with the shame of voting for anyone who might win and then prove to be a disappointment. He probably only voted for Obama because he expected him to lose.
