Ron Paul: Super-Crazy-Paranoid-Nutjob Edition!

From an old fundraising letter sent by Ron Paul:

I have unmasked the plot for world government, world money, and world central banking. Planned exchange controls to hold you hostage…while the dollar drops down a hole. High officials who are wholly owned subsidiaries of the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations. The FEMA plan to suspend the Constitution in a “national emergency.”

I’ve been told not to talk, but these stooges don’t scare me. Threats or no threats, I’ve laid bare the coming race war in big cities. The federal-homosexual cover-up on AIDS (my training as a physician helps me see through this one.) The Bohemian Grove — perverted, pagan playground of the powerful. Skull & Bones: the demonic fraternity that includes George Bush and leftist Senator John Kerry, Congress’s Mr. New Honey. The Israeli lobby, which plays Congress like a cheap harmonica. And the Soviet-style “smartcard” the Justice Department has in mind for you….

[H]istory shows that bad times offer the greatest profit opportunities. A liberal clergyman sneered: “Isn’t it immoral to benefit from catastrophe?” I told him, “No, not if you didn’t cause it.” In fact, the few who preserve and even increase their wealth in the coming chaos will be needed to rebuild America. That’s why I must send you Surviving the New Money, the Ron Paul Investment Letter, and the Ron Paul Political Report…. What’s a middle-class American to do? Gold? Silver? Platinum? Rare coins? Real estate? Gemstones? Farm land? Penny stocks? A small business? Collectibles? T-bill? Mutual funds? CDs? Corporate bonds? Municipal bonds? Gold stocks? Common stocks? The futures market? Overseas banking? Foreign investments? Privacy and tax strategies? Some investments will protect you. Others are like walking into the IRS and saying, “Take me; I’m yours.”…

I fear there will be welfare riots in the big cities. Massive unemployment. The destruction of wealth. The erosion of personal liberties. Vicious economic controls. The exaltation of envy. The suppression of privacy. Authoritarian clamp-downs. Bank and S&L closings on a massive scale. A world dollar crisis as the greenback (or “pinkback”) is rejected for almost any non-paper alternative….

Oval Office ready?  More like rubber-room ready…

  1. Good Job at fact checking before you post something for the whole Internet to read. This is from “Ron Paul Newsletter” which was published without Ron Paul’s consent. This wasn’t written by Ron Paul nor did He approve of them attaching his name to such ridiculousness.

    1. I love the fact that you comment on the post without, you know, actually reading it…

This is from “Ron Paul Newsletter”

No… It’s not. It’s from a Ron Paul fundraising letter that was sent to the mailing list for his whackjob newsletter.

By all means, please feel free to provide a link that supplies actual, verifiable evidence that this fundraising letter is not legitimate.

Until then, I stand by my post.

    2. When did he let “them” know about this?

The man must be an awfully ineffective manager if he could not maintain effective control over his own eponymous brand.

It only took him 15 some years to disavow any of the frankly paranoid things that did go out under his name.

  2. As someone who spent a lot of time opposing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, I must say that I appreciate Ron Pauls stance on the wars. And I think the Lefts (mostly) refusal to work with anti-war Libertarians is very, very unfortunate. It’s certainly been unfortunate for our servicemen and women, and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi’s and Afghans.

    1. I opposed the wars as well. But Ron Paul, like a broken watch, is right on that issue for the wrong reason. He doesn’t object to war because it’s morally wrong, but because he doesn’t want to pay for it. He approaches war as the coercive state overreaching on a global scale. I oppose war because it is morally wrong. Just because we share the same outcome does not mean that we share the same values.

      1. Phil,

When Wal-Mart wanted to come to Spooner Wisconsin several of us progressives partnered with local republican business people to oppose the project. We opposed it for different reasons. We defeated the project because we didn’t get into a discussion of who possessed the greater morality.

I suspect the Iraqi and Afghan people are less interested in these kinds of debates than you and I are.

                1. RE: YMMV – I was merely making the oblique reference that opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. Me included… And it’s still just an opinion.

However, as to the substance of your proposition that Ron Paul should be supported, racist warts and all, runs counter to how I believe our political system should work. I don’t operate under the premise that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Simply because he says he’s against war doesn’t limit the damage his dogmatic, nay religious fervor around economics would do to the nation. He would cause far more damage to the earth than nearly any other Presidential candidate. Simply because he says he’d bring the troops home and never send them out again would hardly make up for the eventually global economic collapse he’d like to initiate through irresponsible Austrian gold-buggery.

Sorry, we’re just going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

                  1. Phil,

We don’t have to disagree on this. Ron Paul will never be president and the apocalyptic scenario you describe will not come to pass.

And I don’t support Ron Paul, I agree with his views on the wars. It’s good to have a republican voice denouncing the wars. Very good.

Think of it in terms of ER triage. When blood is spilling from an open artery you stop it first and attend to the broken leg later.

Do it the other way around and the patient dies.

  3. I resent the fact that people are calling Ron Paul a Republican.. He is a RINO not a Republican. To label him a Republican is an insult to all true conservatives.. Like calling Romney a republican.. he supported liberal legislation in Mass.. he also is not a Republican. Man I wish we had Reagan back.. I hate voting for posers.

    1. The Great! (cough) Ron Reagan was a Democrat before he was a Republican. And then there was the Reagan before and after being shot. Slick-Mitt is just a power hungry criminal like BO! If my choice now is Obama, Romney and Paul? Its a no-brainer Dr.Paul any day.
