Two Truths and a Lie – ROJO edition

Let’s play the popular ice breaker game with Ron Johnson. For those who have never played this game, as a way for a group to get to know each other, someone says 2 truths and 1 lie and the people have to figure out which is which. Here are Two truths and a lie about Ron Johnson:

1. Ron Johnson does not like to work very hard for his money
2. Ron Johnson will do anything for money
3. Ron Johnson is a citizen legislator representing the people of Wisconsin.

In a 7-2 vote the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee advanced the Stop Trading On Congressional Knowledge Act (or STOCK) to the full Senate. According to The Hill “the bill prohibits members of Congress, their staff and other government employees from making financial trades based on private, material information obtained in the course of their public service.”

Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) joined Senator Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) in voting against the ban. They are concerned the bill could have “unintended consequences” and have both vowed to block the bill from moving forward.

Yes, the “unintended consequences” appear to be that congressional representatives would have a harder time cashing in and making money in government. It very important that the former class ring salesman who married up, knows that he has no real marketable skills to actuall make his own way in the world so he needs to keep the deck stacked in his favor.

So to answer the original question, the first two are tru and the third, that ROJO is a “citizen legislator” is blatantly false. Ron Johnson has never represented the people of Wisconsin nor does he have any interest in doing so. Will he ever hold a listening session? Has there ever been a bigger case of “Buyer’s Remorse”? Where is the “tea party” outrage?
