You Can Help Save Badgercare

On December 22nd, 2011, Chetek area resident John Hardin traveled to Madison to hand deliver almost 15,000 petition signatures to Governor Walker and HHS Secretary Dennis Smith, demanding that they find ways to balance the budget other than through cuts to the Badgercare program.

Hardin, a member of the Barron County Human Services Board , ( and friend of this author) started an online petition last November through MoveOn.Org after testifying at a hearing in opposition to the cuts. He told me personally he was stunned and greatly heartened at the response he got in a few short weeks. He also had some sharp words for Scott Walker.

” Governor Scott Walker is giving Wisconsin families the worst Christmas present ever: the threat of debt, illness without coverage or care, and possible financial ruin.”

Though John says his petition seems to have run its course through MoveOn’s advocacy with their membership across the state, he’d like to travel back to Madison in February with several thousand more signatures. That’s where you come in!

Sign Johns online petition and pass it on to every Wisconsinite you know. I know you’ve all signed a lot of petitions during the last year, but you can sign this one from the comfort of your own home and you’ll be lending a helping hand to those who need it most.

So sign it, post it on Facebook, and share it far and wide. You’ll feel good about yourself.

I Promise! 🙂

  1. Susan,

This is the same petition so don’t sign again.

If you sign more than once the Walker folks will try to sue you in Waukesha County Circuit Court. 🙂
