Ike in ’12?

Charles P. Pierce over at the Esquire Politics Blog is my favorite new source of 100% Prime USDA Black Angus Snark.  Take this tasty little morsel of pure Kobe snark, for example!

Ross Douthat, official young sexytime correspondent of The New York Times, spirals out of his comfort zone this morning and finds the perfect Republican presidential candidate. Unfortunately, he’s been dead since 1969, which makes him only marginally less articulate and/or exciting than Willard Romney, but still…

Near as I can tell from the piece, the main arguments behind the Eisenhower in ’12 campaign as expressed here are that not real catastrophes occurred on Ike’s watch, and that, as opposed to the current crop of GOP titans, he was transparently Not Insane.

Mmmmmmm, tasty!
