Republicans again immune to their hypocrisy in Madison

This morning Milwaukee Public Radio featured two news items back to back that exemplified the hypocrisy in the Republican legislature. The announcer played it straight but I am sure someone in the newsroom understood the irony in what they were doing! I haven’t gone back and vetted every word or statement. This is just a ‘quick hit’ type of post.

First news item: legislative Republicans oppose the wind farm rules established during the Doyle Administration back in 2010 (which I am sure had plenty of exposure at the time) because we shouldn’t rush into green energy initiatives simply because we need jobs.

Second news item that immediately followed the first: legislative Republicans decry defeat of mining bill (which is less than a year old and written by the mining industry) because we need the jobs.

Don’t their heads ever hurt from hitting them on their desks so often?

Chewbacca’s Brother Sets the Record Straight

Chewbacca Bozell’s little brother, L., still hasn’t graduated from playground taunts. He demonstrated this in a letter written to CNN host Piers Morgan regarding CNN’s and the other librul media’s coverage of Rush Limbaugh’s 453rd gaffe. Basically, his letter can be boiled down to this: “Neener-neener you got no wiener”.

Whew. Why, you may ask, does L. resort to such childish playground retorts. I don’t know. Maybe it’s because of a recessive conservative gene. Maybe it’s because the kids in his neighborhood once tied him to a tree and left him. Nobody likes a tattletail.

Anyway, L.’s defense of the indefensible Limbaugh centers around this: Rushie-pooh has apologized why doesn’t the liberal media go after Bill Maher? I’ll let you read the self-aggrandizing letter yourself. But before you leave at Intertube speed, here is part of an opinion piece CNN contributor David Frum wroteregarding the attempts by L. to cleanup what Limbaugh barfed.

Most fundamentally, why the impulse to counter one outrageous stunt by rummaging through the archives in search of some supposedly offsetting outrageous stunt? Why not respond to an indecent act on its own terms, and then — if there’s another indecency later — react to that too, and on its own terms?

Instead, public life is reduced to a revenge drama. Each offense is condoned by reference to some previous offense by some undefined “them” who supposedly once did something even worse, or anyway nearly as bad, at some point in the past.

Senator Vinehout to stop by both Drinking Liberally Milwaukee and Waukesha this spring

One of the coolest things about Drinking Liberally Milwaukee and Drinking Liberally Waukesha  is the opportunity to speak with elected officials, political candidates, and others in a casual, relaxed, non-partisan setting. It’s a chance for citizens to meet face-to-face with those they normally may not have access to, while gathering with friends, neighbors, and like-minded community members. And, of course, beverages.

Here’s what’s coming up for Drinking Liberally Milwaukee and Drinking Liberally Waukesha in the next few weeks:

Drinking Liberally Milwaukee meets March 19th at 7pm at Transfer Pizza in Milwaukee. Senator Kathleen Vinehout will be stopping by.

Drinking Liberally Waukesha meets April 2nd at 6:30 pm at Club 400 in Waukesha. Senator Vinehout will be our guest as well.

Accessibility to political candidates is invaluable, especially in 2012 Wisconsin.

Zach and I will keep you posted on upcoming events and speakers, and for more information about Drinking Liberally Milwaukee, Waukesha, or any of the Drinking Liberally Wisconsin chapters, please visit drinkingliberally.org.

America’s Newest Stoner

Noted raconteur and bon vivant, Pat Robertson, host of the 700 Club has come out in support of legalizing The Lady

“I really believe we should treat marijuana the way we treat beverage alcohol,” Mr. Robertson said in an interview on Wednesday. “I’ve never used marijuana and I don’t intend to, but it’s just one of those things that I think: this war on drugs just hasn’t succeeded.”

Sure, Pat… Don’t you mean you didn’t inhale?  Although he asserts he’s never tried it, Robertson was seen rolling a fat spliff in the hall following the interview.

Eric Hovde Hates His Neighbors

Hedgefund Manager and Washington DC resident, Eric Hovde, sent me an email today titled “let’s send Washington a message”

Subject: Let’s Send Washington a Message

Friend,

The career politicians in Washington are not being honest with the American people, and their reckless actions have bankrupted our nation. Out-of-control spending and years of short-sighted policies have created a moral crisis that demands immediate attention.

I’ve spent the last 25 years in the private sector creating jobs and making payroll. Washington needs more conservative citizen legislators who will set fiscally responsible goals to balance our budget and create real economic growth.

If we don’t act now to elect leaders who will make the tough decisions that are needed to get our country back on track, we will put the future of our children and grandchildren in doubt.

That is why I am announcing my candidacy for the United States Senate.

Our nation has reached a breaking point, and I am running because the future of America is at stake.
We borrow nearly 40 cents of every dollar we spend, and our national debt is larger than our entire economy. Simply put, the path we are on is unsustainable.

We must fight to preserve the American Dream, and I will use my experiences and financial expertise to work with other leaders who feel the same.

It won’t be easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is. With the courage, self-sacrifice and ingenuity that has defined the American people for more than 230 years, we can do it.

If you share my vision for a better, more prosperous America, I ask you to join me. Together, we can reclaim our country and put our economy back on track.

Sincerely,

Eric Hovde
Conservative Businessman and Candidate for U.S. Senate

Not sure if his neighbors didn’t mow their lawn, have dogs that bark too much or whatever but Eric Hovde is upset with them. Hovde is going to send them a message not to mess with him, by buying a US Senate seat. Apparently, after seeing intellectual lightweight Ron Johnson buy a Senate seat in Wisconsin he realized that maybe he could also!

A couple things on Hovde:

Apparently times are tough for hedge fund managers and he can no longer afford a tie, and

Verify the Recall , has flagged his signature as questionable!
