There are a few things that have defined the Walker regime

1. He is perpetually less than honest

2. He has demonized public workers, especially teachers

3. He values people who work for him politically over all others.

Now we have a story that Jud from UppityWI brings us a story that incorporates all three. AsJud points out, Scott Walker has redefined ACT 10.

As an example of how this will play out, looking at the pay scale for the Monticello School District’s teachers. Previously, the maximum a teacher could earn in the district was $52,927– which is what someone who has a Masters degree, 24 hours of college credit and 12 years of experience is paid. Under the new rule, the maximum a teacher will be able to earn in future contracts is $38,167, which is the maximum for a teacher that has the minimum educational requirements, but many years of experience.

So now we are going to cut an educator with a Masters degree pay approximately $15,000 MORE a year, with no way to make that up, despite the fact that teachers still have to complete credits every five years(at their own expense!)

But wait, it is not exactly true that thy have no way to make that up. There is one way. Work to advance Scott Walker or JB Van Hollen’s political career. Then the money flows freely!

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker established a program that has given hundreds of thousands of dollars in merit raises and bonuses to some state workers even as he preached cost-cutting and pushed through a law reducing most public workers’ pay and eliminating their union rights.

An analysis of data The Associated Press obtained through an open records request showed Wisconsin agencies have handed out more than $765,000 in bonuses and merit raises this year to nearly 220 employees.
