Hello.
It’s been a while since I started up a new blog. On July 1, 2007 I posted the first entry to Blogging Blue, and at the time I anticipated Blogging Blue would be a fun way to express my opinions about all things political. However, what I never expected was that Blogging Blue would turn into something much larger that one guy, one keyboard, one voice.
Don’t get me wrong – I’m damn proud of vibrant community of sometimes disparate points of view that Blogging Blue has become – but I felt it was time for me to have my own space again. I wanted a blog that was mine and mine alone, where I could write about politics, current events, sports, or whatever other random stuff happened to catch my interest.
Ultimately though, I started this blog for one simple reason:
Why name the blog “undoctrinaire?”
Simple: the definition of doctrinaire is, “Seeking to impose a doctrine in all circumstances without regard to practical considerations.” As anyone who’s read Blogging Blue knows, I very obviously have strong beliefs, but I try not to let those beliefs come in the way of my common sense. From time to time, I’ve been known to risk losing my “progressive membership card” for calling out folks on the left for stupid things they’ve done, and thus we have….undoctrinaire.
