The question is whether it’s intentionally funny or not. For those who are serious…obviously idiots, point & laugh at them. I’m willing to be at least some have tongue firmly in cheek and are taking a shot at the many many people who make that promise if/when Bush was re-elected. If you were one of them you’re the butt of the joke as well.
Did I mention it’s nice to have you back commenting?
As for the folks who said they were going to leave if/when Bush was reelected, you’re right. Those folks are the butt of the joke as well, because that’s just foolishness.
Thanks, I appreciate that. I try. Sometimes time is short, sometimes I just don’t feel like I have anything positive to add, but overall I’m trying to contribute more. As I mentioned in another thread, I appreciate your efforts to foster discussion & am trying to participate more as a show of support if nothing else.
What’s your point?? republican idiots keep screaming like little BIT*HES about OBAMA being a communist a socialist a marxist a muslim planted spy terrorist!! america is a world leader in brain dead idiotic thought. I wouldn’t be ignorant enough to call people DUMB because they said they’d move out the country if bush was reelected, abandoning ship sometimes makes since! And the way I never said I’d leave if bush was reelected, I’m still fighting right here in Michigan
You obviously missed the irony.
psssst, knight4444, google “canada” and “national health care.”
Of course, yes, I also would prefer the Canadian plan, i.e., reform to health care, not this country’s health insurance “reform” that further funds exorbitant salaries of health insurance CEOs who wrote this country’s plan.
Two points here, Canada already has a horrible health care system and is more socialist then we currently are, secondly just like all the libs that were going to move to Canada when George bush was reelected and none of them did, all of the windbags who say they are now moving also are just embarrassing themselves.
Horrible, you say? That’s a pretty heavy statement. Certainly there must be proof of just how horrible it is. Can you please provide some? Say, a study that shows more of Canada’s citizens dying prematurely of treatable causes than here in the United States. That would be a good start.
Not in my experience.
I got great care in Canada, emergency care, and entirely free.
Same thing in Australia. Same thing in Italy. Emergency care. Free.
Yes, even for visitors.
They do get repaid by the looks on our faces.
So Migosh as long as it’s FREE its great care? A work associate who lives in Detroit but dates a nice gentleman from the Windsor area. The guys father was having chest pains so they took them to the local er room, turns out he was having a heart attack, however there was no cardiologist on duty at the hospital so they needed to send him over to Detroit. She did say though she was impressed with the folding chairs they had in the waiting room. But as long as it’s free……
Your anecdotal evidence about a single event proves nothing. Of course, if you have evidence, like a study or two or three, which says something about the Canadian SYSTEM, then maybe you’ll have something worth paying attention to.
For the record, Migosh simply said that he got great care in Canada, and in Australia, and in Italy. THEN he observed that it had been free, and that the provision of free medical care, even to visitors, seems endemic everywhere but here, where greedy corporations and heartless, robotic former vulture capitalists prioritize lining their pockets (and decorating their suits for photo-ops) over taking care of America citizens who can’t afford proper healthcare routinely offered in other countries, and, as it happens, offered for free.
You’re the one who snarkily, and inaccurately, conflated the two things in characterizing what he said. Get to a reading comprehension class, JWayne and maybe stop listening to that bloviating ignoramus, Rush Limbaugh, so much.
I like the comment “I am sick of this hot weather! I’m moving to Ethiopia!”
says it all.
How do they know Canada will let them?
It won’t. Emigrating to Canada has gotten much more difficult, thanks to the Conservative govt. They can try, but chances are they won’t be able to do it. (Not that they are seriously going to try.)
Canada has universal health care…just don’t tell conservatives here in America that!
“As for the folks who said they were going to leave if/when Bush was reelected, you’re right. Those folks are the butt of the joke as well, because that’s just foolishness.”
Except for those of us who actually did it. I applied well before the second fraudulent election, in early 2003, was accepted in late 2004 and moved in 2005. I know dozens of former USians, now Canadians, who did the same. About 11,000 Americans emigrated to Canada in 2005, more than twice the normal number.
Our healthcare system is amazing. Life expectancy is longer here, health outcomes are overall much better than in the US, there’s no such thing as “pre-existing condition”, medical bankruptcy or homelessness does not exist. We choose our own doctors, we see specialists when we need to, and we pay nothing out of pocket. The system is funded by taxes, but overall I pay *less* in tax than I did in New York State.
Right now we are trying to protect our excellent system from the clutches of privatization by our neocon govt. Canadians are justly proud of our excellent health care system. Of course there is room for improvement, but we are always trying to improve it. It should be a shining example of what can be done.
Not sure where the dude who said it’s horrible got his info, but in my experience, US media regularly lies about the Canadian health care system. If you want to know how it goes here, ask a Canadian.
