BREAKING: PPP Poll Shows Dead Heat in Recall

In a poll released late last night, the non-partisan polling firm Public Policy Polling has the recall race tied at 50-47 with a 2.8% margin of error.

The really good news is around independents.

Barrett is actually winning independent voters by a 48-46 margin. The reason he continues to trail overall is that Republicans are more excited about voting in Tuesday’s election than Democrats are.

So get out and vote, Democrats!

  1. Yeah, there’s no doubt this election will be won or lost by the turnout operations of the two parties and their allied outside groups, which leaves me optimistic that we’ll win tomorrow.

  2. So Zach admits the left have been using outside the state groups to influence this election. You knew from the start you did not have the support of the people in this state so you had to get desperate. Sad but what is even worse is if Barrett does win he will now not only be a slave to unions here but all over the country, Wisconsin will be royally screwed.

    1. “Outside” as in “outside the formal party structure.”

But since you brought up out-of-state, let’s talk about how much money Gov. Walker raised from out of state. Heck, let’s talk about all the right-wing out-of-state groups (Americans For Prosperity, the Republican Governors Association, Tea Party Express) that are pouring money and resources into Wisconsin.

Just once I’d love for you to admit that Republicans are equally as guilty of all the same things you accuse Democrats of, but I’m not holding my breath, because I know you can’t think for yourself.

  3. Dante, you cannot really be this dumb.

You’re literate, you have analytical ability, so you cannot be so dumb as to not be able to understand the connotative defintion in Zach’s usage of the term.

So, then, what is your purpose in making such a dumb post? Really, I’m fascinated by what would motivate you to embarrass yourself.

    1. Migosh,
Dante is a peculiar bird. While it may be easy to write him off as dumb, there may be some utility in examining the whys and hows of his words. Dante isn’t adjectively dumb. He (McLuhan and Agel forgive me) seems to be a verb. He dumbs. Dante has some limited form of analysis in that he’s able to break down a matter into component parts. But he’s unable to grasp all the components necessary for the next and more challenging step – synthesis. Dante continually demonstrates his inability to combine numerous, distinct elements into a coherent whole.

It is as important to consider what Dante doesn’t say and what he conflates, for instance, when he says that Barrett will be a union slave. Dante doesn’t object to slavery. His fervent anti-unionism does reveal one important point: He willingly submits to complacent servitude within the corporate structure, which is a profoundly authoritarian, undemocratic structure, devoid of accountability, and a structure where individual liberty is non-existent. Yet, Dante bemoans unionism and fears that it will not be abolished nationwide if Barrett wins the Wisconsin recall.

Dante may appear thick and dim, but you have to admit – he’s purposeful. Likewise, he’s purposively deflective and antagonistic. The more he comments the more he reveals. He’s right wing perfection. Yes, something is rotten in the state of Wisconsin and the fish rots from the head down. The question is which part of the fish is Dante?

      1. @ PJ

I ALWAYS enjoy your erudite, but searing and entertaining, take-downs. If Dante was capable of following what you write, it might really leave a mark. Alas. . .

Whenever I read something that Dante writes, I’m reminded of a “Far Side” cartoon in which you see a couple of crows up on a telephone wire looking down on a guy walking on the sidewalk, seemingly lost in thought. One crow says to the other, “I wonder what he’s thinking about.”

A thought bubble emerges from the guy on the sidewalk:

        “Left. . .Right. . .Left. . .”

Dante is that “guy on the sidewalk”. You and Zach give him WAY too much credit.

    2. @ Migosh who wrote, in pertinent part: “Dante, you cannot really be this dumb.”

Yes, Migosh. Yes, he can be.

  4. Yeah, well. I guess I’ve been forced to admit that I may have been a little bit wrong about the GOTV effort – chalk it up with CDs will never replace vinyl.

I still maintain that what is sorely needed with Democratic policy makers (including Tom Barrett to some extent) is a major paradigm shift and a concerted campaign to communicate it.

I must admit when Barrett’s GOTV volunteers were at my door, I couldn’t help but be absolutely gobsmacked. Here were two of the most adorable little old peaches you’d ever want to see going door to door to door: concerned, sincere, thoroughly engaged, and committed. It was their determination and their desire for renewed civility and clean water that shook me. At that moment when those two volunteers were at my door – that was a genuinely moving moment. I’m still jaded, but I have more hope now than I have had in quite some time.

  5. How much is the “market” pricing a chance that Walker is a crook? I’d guess it’s close to 94% just to grab a random percentage.

  6. There’s currently no market on that one. But there was for Blago so who knows.

  7. It’s illegal to vote in an election you’ve made a wager or placed a bet on, right?

  8. No not exactly, some forms of gambling are perfectly legal but others not so much.
