Head of Milwaukee County office for disadvantaged business development jailed

Some news from Milwaukee County…

The head of Milwaukee County’s office for disadvantaged business development was jailed Thursday, suspended from her county job and locked out of her county office.

Frieda Webb, 63, was jailed at about 6 p.m., said Capt. Scott Stiff, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office. He declined to comment on reasons for her arrest, saying she had not yet been charged.

Sources told the Journal Sentinel that investigators are looking into allegations of forgery and bribery.

From what I’ve been told, Webb reported directly to the County Board of Supervisors – not the County Executive’s office – and the board rebuffed attempts to bring the office back under the purview and supervision of the County Executive.

It will be interesting to see the extent of Webb’s alleged forgery and bribery, as well as the duration of her alleged crimes.
