Voter Intimidation Isn’t Restricted to Urban Inner Cities

You do NOT need VOTER ID on NOVEMBER 6th in the State of Wisconsin!

Recently a number of billboards have appeared in Milwaukee’s minority neighborhoods ‘reminding’ our friends and neighbors that voter fraud is a felony. Needless to say there have been protests about voter intimidation as a result.

But voter intimidation isn’t restricted to our big urban centers…no way! In fact the Clerk Treasurer of tiny Alma Center WI (pop: 446) has her own little unique way of going about it. Just check out this ad she placed in the local free weekly, THE SHOPPER:

Of course the other option is she is just plain stupid.

Stuff like this bears out the GABs concern with confusion surrounding the implementation of voter ID in Wisconsin.

Voter ID has been nullified by two courts in Wisconsin and is not in effect for the November 6th elections.

Have you ever been to Alma? There’s only about 12 people that live there and its one of the most backwards places that I’ve ever seen. I’m going to go with your “other option” on this one.

The town of Alma Center (my mail address)is in Jackson County while the town of Alma which is also located in western Wisconsin, but not in Jackson County; however, there is a township of Alma in Jackson County.

      Whew! I’m confused too! LOL

I have forwarded this info to Jackson County Democratic chair person.

Please tell me how a billboard that shows the state law is intimidating to anyone? Only intimidating to someone planning to commit voter fraud.

Do you also find billboards to be intimidating that discourage drunk driving and tell us seatbelts are mandatory? “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click it or Ticket” only sound intimidating to lawbreakers.

  • Eh, I don’t see the thing in Alma Center as voter intimidation so much as it would be voter suppression. There’s a difference.

Can’t help but notice the signs are in the poorer sections, populated by overwhelming numbers of Dems. Are you saying this “gentle” reminder wouldn’t be appropriate in Brookfield? Rich white people are just as prone to illegal shenanigans wouldn’t you say?

Is this being investigated? Is Burlingame going to correct this mis-information?

This type of Republican election fraud will be happening all over the state, along with but not limited to: ballot stuffing, double voting through absentee ballots, phoney absentee ballots sent to Democrats with incorrect return addresses, notices deliberately giving incorrect polling places, scrubbed voting lists, rigged and unverifiable touch screen machines, harrassment of minority voters at the polls and of course, the inevitable late night, phantom count in Walkerhsha County.

Ballot stuffing and double voting?! I am surprised no one on here has asked you to document such incidents. I guess as long as such allegations are preceded by Republican bashing, such charges go unchallenged.

So… While everyone is bitching about how terrible this is, did this get reported to GAB? And is the Clerk/Treasurer being told that she needs to make a retraction/correction… IN WRITING… IN THAT SAME PAPER?

Just a thought… clerk education has become hellacious, with so many changes in election laws in a short time frame, and it is difficult reaching out to these remote clerks. It’s a part-time gig for a small town like this, is she supposed to read your blog to stay up to date? (Ain’t gonna happen.)

Just my own thought…it’s not like this hasn’t been headline material in every newspaper in the state for the past year or better…and part time gig or not…you have to do your job!

@Ed – I submit to you a counterexample that proves you don’t have to do your job!

    Two words: Kathy Nickolaus.

I have been informed that this notice has been corrected and the next two issues of the local newspaper will reflect that correction.

Apparently the town clerk had not been advised of the injunction.

Hopefully, all’s well that ends well.
