Citing “extremely poor judgment,” CIA Director David Petraeus resigned his position after having engaged in an extramarital affair. In accepting Petraeus’ resignation, President Barack Obama said Petraeus had led the Central Intelligence Agency “with characteristic intellectual rigor, dedication and patriotism,” adding, “Going forward, my thoughts and prayers are with Dave and Holly Petraeus, who has done so much to help military families through her own work. I wish them the very best at this difficult time.”
Petraeus’ resignation comes as President Obama’s cabinet is nearing a second-term shuffle, with at least 8 of President Obama’s Cabinet members rumored to be leaving. Likeliest to go are Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, Energy Secretary Steven Chu, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and Lisa Jackson, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, with Attorney General Eric Holder and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood as possibilities to leave as well.
Dear Senator Ron Johnson,
Tammy Baldwin is not an idiot and neither is the electorate. But when you say things like this about Senator-elect Baldwin:
“Hopefully I can sit down and lay out for her my best understanding of the federal budget because they’re simply the facts…Hopefully she’ll agree with what the facts are and work toward common sense solutions.”
And this about the electorate:
“If you aren’t properly informed, if you don’t understand the problems facing this nation, you are that much more prone to falling prey to demagoguing solutions. And the problem with demagoguing solutions is they don’t work,” Johnson said. “I am concerned about people who don’t fully understand the very ugly math we are facing in this country.”
Well, then you, sir, appear to be misinformed.
At the 2012 NRA convention last April Ted Nugent, the guitar playin’, gun totin’, venom spewin’ rocker very aptly nicknamed, ” The Motor City Madman ” told NRA convention attendees that if Obama was re-elected president in November he’d either be dead or in jail by the same time next year, April, 2013.
Memo to Ted: Obama’s been re-elected. So what’s it going to be? Are you a man of your word or just a great big blowhard gasbag?
If you’re Republican Rep. Paul Ryan, the secretive efforts by Republicans in the Wisconsin legislature to gerrymander districts to the benefit of Republicans certainly paid dividends.
Paul Ryan will still have a job, having defeated challenger Rob Zerban in his most competitive race since he first won election. What is getting very little attention in the mainstream media is that Ryan failed to carry his home communities of Janesville and Rock County. Zerban won his home County of Kenosha and Ryan’s home County, Rock. Not surprisingly, Ryan has the GOP-friendly redistricting and Waukesha County to thank.
