Florida GOP’ers Blow the Whistle: Voter Fraud Concerns Really Voter Suppression Tactic

Former Florida GOP Chairman Jim Greer and former Governor Charlie Crist have told the Palm Beach Post that Florida’s new election law, which curbed early voting, was designed to inhibit democratic voters.  From the Post story:

Republican leaders said in proposing the law that it was meant to save money and fight voter fraud. But a former GOP chairman and former Gov. Charlie Crist, both of whom have been ousted from the party, now say that fraud concerns were advanced only as subterfuge for the law’s main purpose: GOP victory.

I’m shocked and appalled! Freedom and liberty loving GOP patriots attempting to disenfranchise voters and undermine democracy here in America? Say it ain’t so!

Surely Scott Walker wouldn’t stoop to such despicable tactics as he faces re-election in 2014?

  1. I totally agree with this statement by Scotty, “It’s difficult for them to handle the volume of people who come at the last minute. It’d be much better if registration was done in advance of election day. It’d be easier for our clerks to handle that. All that needs to be done.”

Ballots should be mailed out to everyone 3 weeks in advance. This way people have time to think about everyone on the ballot and understand any complex referendums; also, people won’t take time out of their day to get to a polling place (especially for those without cars)…everyone has a mailing address, and even the homeless can use a PO Box if they wish.
