Gov. Scott Walker has his first official challenger in 2014: Francis Klein

It may be too early to tell who the Democratic candidate for governor will be in 2014, but we already know who will be carrying the banner of the Pirate Party of Wisconsin: Francis Klein.

While I don’t know much about Klein at this point, he does have a Facebook page set up, and he has also released a 7-point treatise about why he is running for governor and what he hopes to change with his candidacy.

Obviously Klein would be the longest of long shots in the 2014 gubernatorial race, a fact he admits at the end of his treatise:

I would like to address another issue that some people have asked – how do I think we will do in the election?

Honestly, I don’t know. I know that in order to feel like I did not fail miserably, I would at least like to get the 1% for ballot status. Ideally, I would like to win. However, I recognize the severely small chances of that happening. There is one thing, though, that we have to keep in mind: time. We have almost a year and a half to make this into what we want it to be. I am confident that with your help, we can change the two party system which has so often disappointed us.

Wisconsin Soapbox has another take on this.
